Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

cheap web design software

hi, am just wondering if any 1 knows of any good places where i could buy cheaper web design sofware.

Any student discounts available do ya know?

Re: cheap web design software

microsoft notepad is free

Re: cheap web design software

This is a good HTML editor: HTML Kit

Mozilla have a composer within it's browser too, not used it for a long time but its more graphical:
Mozilla

I would definitely recommend learning HTML and CSS, they allow for much better design and control over your website, Pageresource was where I started off (doesn't seem to be working at the mo though!) but there are many books out there too which I would recommend splashing out on rather than software; as odd planet says, Microsoft Notepad is almost as good as any!!

Drop me a line if you need any help.

Mon the Fife, hump the soap dodgers

Re: cheap web design software

Am at college studying to be a web designer, my early post was about me just wondering if any 1 knew where i could buy software packages such as flash, freehand, fireworks etc

just that everywhere i look its really expensive. the reason i want the software is for home use.

Re: cheap web design software

ffs download them of the net like everyone else does,

do you think the guys at college go and buy flash, dreamwaever photoshop etc etc these are all programs that cost a fortune but if you look in the right place can easily be found,

if you found a tenner in the street would you hand it into the police?

Re: cheap web design software

Best see Angusfifer. He's an expert on things going CHEEP.

Re: cheap web design software

cool, my experience is that macromedia products are very expensive, not sure where you can get a cheap copy with the obvious exception in Glasgow at the weekend!
You can try SwishZone
They used to have a free lite version but I can't find it now!

Re: cheap web design software

Re: cheap web design software

follow the link to serif from www.planetodd.co.uk and have a look at their software, webplus9 is good, it has over 60 ready made template based sites and is relatively easy to work with.

you might well be doing some html work and using frontpage at college so you should be able to adapt to webplus9 easily. and if you register with serif you will get generous discount offers.
