Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

LOCAL KNOWLEDGE REQUEST

A fwew questions for those with local knowledge.

Does anyone know about a 'Gordon's Hall' near or in Pittenweem? Does it still exist? what is/was it?

Re: LOCAL KNOWLEDGE REQUEST

Gordons Hall is outside Pittenweem.Think it could be up nearer Carnbee.Think it could be a or near a farm(Browns). If its that important,i'll ask around fer ye.

Re: LOCAL KNOWLEDGE REQUEST

Ah, so that's where the stuff's buried?

Re: LOCAL KNOWLEDGE REQUEST

Enfifer is correct. Gordonshall is a farm near Carnbee.
Go to www.streetmap.co.uk - enter 'Carnbee' in the search box and check 'GB place' - the farm is just to the north east of Carnbee village.
If you're visiting the area though, watch oot fur Fermer Peebles, the ogre o' South Baldutho!
(BTW Enfifer - did ye ivver gaun wi' us an' the gang on oor cycle runs up that way tae climb Kellie Law? Nah, ye wid be too wee!! )

Re: LOCAL KNOWLEDGE REQUEST

Re: LOCAL KNOWLEDGE REQUEST

aye ye were right wee rascals way back then, now I know where they got the ideas for the Broons and Oor Wullie.

Re: LOCAL KNOWLEDGE REQUEST

Back to the EFFC board again!

Re: LOCAL KNOWLEDGE REQUEST

Lonefifer, were you at the school when that 'Alternative' Oor Wullie/Broons comic strip done the rounds? It involved Wullie & Co gang-banging Daphne Broon up Stoorie Brae - literally and figuratively!

This was 25 years ago (yikes) but it made such an impression that I can still mind the wee poem that was at the top...

"Wullie, Soapy and Fat Bob
Think fcuking Daphne's just the job
But Daphne thinks it is a farce
When they want to stick it up her...

...yes, you get the idea.

Hmmm, imagine - anal sex was alive and well in Glebe Street long before Frank Skinner popularised it.

Re: LOCAL KNOWLEDGE REQUEST

I'm sure LF probably browsed the same copy of the "porno Broons", as me during Ms Gregorys' [what a pair o cans she had!!] english class!!

Re: LOCAL KNOWLEDGE REQUEST

So what did you fowk frae 'Wast Bye' get up tae as bairns?
Apart from door bell ringing, one of our favourites was 'the invisible rope'.
You and your pal had to stand either side of the road pretending to pull on an imaginary rope spanning the road between the pair of you on a dark night. When you were picked up in the headlights of an approaching car it looked like there really was a rope there and the driver had to stop.
I expect I would have had an ASBO back then if they'd been in existence!
(P.S. - kids - don't try this - it's a silly and dangerous thing to do!)

Re: LOCAL KNOWLEDGE REQUEST

pingpong, the said Ms Gregory was my English teacher too. She has an excellent sense of humour and would have probs appreciated the porno Broons herself.

Re: LOCAL KNOWLEDGE REQUEST

You are right neebs, bumped into her a few years back, she was a great teacher and had a real dry sense of humour, Quality!!

Re: LOCAL KNOWLEDGE REQUEST

and a great pair of tits

Re: LOCAL KNOWLEDGE REQUEST

Many thanks one and all for your input. It is good to know it still exists but nothing of material importance buried there.
