Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Scottish cup semi

Hard to choose who I would prefer to win
Dundee or Gretna

GRETNA because of a) King Kenny b) Brooks Mileson's donation to the trust
or
DUNDEE because a)I want our record to remain intact and b) I DO NOT WISH TO SEE ALAN MAIN WIN ANYTHING !

Sorry Kenny !, I hope it's Dundee, you have age and Brooks money on your side and I CAN'T FORGIVE ALAN MAIN FOR HIS ANTICS AT BAYVIEW ALL THOSE YEARS AGO WHEN WE WERE ROBBED AGAINST DUNDEE UNITED.....!!

Re: Scottish cup semi

Hope Gretna win tomorrow

What a prospect a 2nd division side(Gretna) in
Europe and our supposed Biggest club(Rangers) in
the inter toto cup

Re: Scottish cup semi

The is no way Gretna or Dundee will win the Scottish cup ....so dont worry our record will remain.

Re: Scottish cup semi

I too hope Dundee win as I want our record to remain intact.

Likewise, that prat Alan Mains antics in a Scottish Cup replay will be remembered for a long time by every East Fife fan present - completely uncalled for, and TBH if someone had run on the pitch to attack him, Main would be partly at fault.

Cant recall another occasion like that where an opposition player went out of his way to try and wind up the opposing fans to that extent.

Re: Scottish cup semi

whats the european places up for grabs this season?

can Hearts get a UEFA place if they come second in the league, then if they beat Gretna in the final will Gretna then get a place in the UEFA too?

that would be my ideal outcome, record stays intact but Gretna get to Europe!

Re: Scottish cup semi

I too, want our record to stay intact, but if a club and chairman ever deserved it, it would be Gretna. Good luck for Saturday......
ps Where wouLd we be with a chairman like BM instead of DB??

Re: Scottish cup semi

Let them wait until they are in the Premier

By the way it has been suggested here before that BM is not actually the chairman but just a shareholder.

Re: Scottish cup semi

I still want to strangle Main after his swallow diving when Utd scored in SEVEN MINUTES of added time.
I still hate Dundee Utd to this very day.

Re: Scottish cup semi

It was his chest beating antics at the replay that really hacked me off.

Couple of years ago he had a bad injury, cant say I had any sympathy for that scumbag.

Re: Scottish cup semi

Kenny Deuchar has scored, 1-0 Gretna at half time.

Re: Scottish cup semi

Graet goal!

Deuchar, Deuchar, Deuchar.

Re: Scottish cup semi

Guffy penalty 2-0 ye ha

Re: Scottish cup semi

smith og gretna 3 dundee 0

Re: Scottish cup semi

That'll be that then.

Re: Scottish cup semi

Gretna in the final how can i get tickets 4 it me n ma son r wanting 2 go

Re: Scottish cup semi

I fancy it too. We'll not see a 2nd division club in a cup final again, in our lifetimes. In anybody's lifetime!

Re: Scottish cup semi

Although I wanted Dundee to win, have to applaud and congratulate Gretna on an excellent win. Pleased for Kenny D and Mileson.

6,000 fans, wonder how many we would have taken.....unfortunately probably never find out..!!

Re: Scottish cup semi

6000..... we would have taken at least double that. Now you wonder if there will be 60 there today!!

Re: Scottish cup semi

gretna r in the 3rd div, if you include the spl.

Re: Scottish cup semi

It was Alan Main's antics at Tannadice that angered me the most. When United equalised he ran from his goal to the corner flag giving us the two fingered salute - shielding the gesture from the match officials with his other glove.
I complained about the incident to the police and a steward but got the silent stare from both.
Still, it was good to see Kenny D score the opening goal and in the end I suppose I'm glad they won.
BTW - if Dundee had won and then gone on to win the cup, in my opinion they'd still have matched our record as being the only team from outwith the top league to lift the trophy.

Re: Scottish cup semi

An exciting game with the Edinburgh team winning 3-2 and Kenny bagging a couple would be ideal.
