Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Letter in East Fife Mail

Here's the text of the letter in today's edition.

Plea for Change at Bayview

Dear Sir

There is one curious aspect to the current well-organised and growing protest against the chairman of East Fife FC and that is the absence of comment from the club or major shareholders.

So far this season Chairman Brown has misplaced two managers, has seen a 50% drop in paying customers, has presided over the club finishing in the bottom five of Scottish football, has alienated local businesses, has rejected several offers of investment and has shown the PR skills of Attila the Hun.

No board of a commercial organisation could possibly countenance such an abject record of performance in its management and yet we hear nothing from the major shareholders. Is there anyone associated with the club who can persuade Mr Brown that it is time he left? Do the Rodgers family or the guardians of the juvenile major shareholder feel their investment is safe? Are they confident that the club will continue to exist without a change at the top?

One thing is abundantly clear and that is that the protests will continue to grow in strength - last Saturday saw dozens of long-serving supporters leaving their seats early to join the protest. Does Mr Brown seriously believe that these fans will be buying season tickets next year?

Let me plead publicly with the other directors and major shareholders: use your authority and power to remove the current chairman and let us all come back to help rebuild the club.

Well seeing you never got J.Derrick Brown to compose the letter for you Eugene. We can understand what you're saying. Wholeheartedly agree with your statement. Keep up the pressure he's ready to crack.
