Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

O/T Rant

I'm just reading the headline in the Sunday Times about millions of weans going to die of flu just because a deid swan has been found in Cellardyke. I mean for God's sake where's the sense of proportion!

It's just like when Fife cooncil added wire netting to the bridge at the harbour at Largo in case a child fell in - ignoring the fact that in 50 years nobody had ever come close to that. Risk assessment gone daft - it seems to mean that if there is a risk we won't do anything. Does no-one nowadays know the difference between a hazard and a risk?

I'm sitting here trying to make money for my business and employing people and I then remember the report that shows almost 25% of Scottish employees are in the public sector. I'm working 24/7 and sometimes more just to keep another few Fife pay-clerks in a job - and some of them are well enough off to own their own football club!

I tell you this, if I may paraphrase McDiarmid (I think). We will never be free until the last Council payclerk has been strangled with a copy of the last risk assessment report.

And as for MSPs that say they will will ablolish tolls apart from when they are asked to vote on the matter.......

Re: O/T Rant

Totally agree Eugene - we - the general public have been to complacent and allowed idiots and nincompoops to be voted in to positions of so called democratic authority in all spheres of life and they are more interested in promoting themselves instead of working for the benefit of there fellow man. Classic example is the Times scaremongering story - these people are a total joke.
