Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Correction to BBC and Kingdom FM Reports

I have contacted the BBC and Kingdom FM to correct the online and radio reports about the Supporters Trust supporting the calls for the removal of the chairman and board.

Our position has been to refrain from comment on this particular issue.

Thanks to all those who contactedd me about this. If anyone else comes across similar reports please let me know.

Continued Unrest In the Kingdom Of FIfe

Story by Ed_ScottishFitba 10 April 2006

There is something ugly happening in East Fife as the fans of that club continue to protest over how the club is run. The current board are not for turning and things could turn even uglier.

East Fife’s new manager, Dave Baikie, turned a diplomatic deaf ear to the protest coming from angry fans attempting to confront the board after their latest defeat. The fact that the loss was to East Stirlingshire, who sit bottom of Division Three, was more than enough for Baikie. He said: "I heard the shouting but didn't pay much attention. I took some good things from the game. It is early days yet, but I have the next few months to assess the squad." There have been fans’ protests at a number of East Fife’s games recently following the boards refusal to sell any shares in the club to the East Fife Supporters' Trust. The Trust want the board and chairman to resign but, according to the club, have yet to offer a constructive alternative.

The board had issued a statement ahead of Saturday’s game asking that the war of words between protestors and the board should end. The club stated that a section of the protestors' behaviour at their match in Cowdenbeath recently "cannot be described as anything other than disgraceful" and "was a stain on the club's name". The statement went on: "The board would echo the comments made by our new manager, Dave Baikie, following his appointment that this situation is not going to be resolved by the protesters and board being at war. The board would reiterate their view that the best way of taking the club forward will be for everyone associated with the club to work together. The board will not be stepping down either now or in the foreseeable future and, as such, they would urge the club's supporters and the wider Levenmouth community to continue to prove that there is a desire to retain a professional football team in the area. The board will deliver ambitious plans for the future of the club in the coming months and we would urge the protesters to return to join with the other supporters in being part of what we are certain will be a very bright future for the club. The board of directors would be happy to meet with a representative of the protestors to explore the way forward. This month marks the sixth anniversary of the club's financial plight being so grave that the electricity supply to the stadium was within 48 hours of being cut off. Thankfully, through the actions of the present board of directors, the club is no longer in the financial difficulties that came very close to allowing third parties with no interest in the future of East Fife to be in a position where they could make the club cease to exist."
