Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Great day out today

Sun was shining, scooby doo, spiderman, various polis, tweetie pie and even one of our flock wearing a "Cowdenbeath" blazer were all in attendance and the Fife won 2-0.

Excellent day, with a very warm welcome from all at Montrose FC who appreciated the protests were peaceful and not foul mouthed.

Well done the players, team management and fans.

Re: Great day out today

Absolutely meaningless game but we played well in patches and deserved our 2-0 win.

It was a jolly day out with lots of the protestors in fancy dress and keeping up a constant barrage of fairly witty but certainly not abusive comments about our Dear Leader. J Derrick Brown.

Congrats too to the Montrose stewards who met with the protestors before the match and made it clear they were OK about the protests as long as there were no obscenities and it didn't get put of hand. East Stirling stewards and management take note!

The main thing now is to keep up our fight - we scent victory over the Powers of Brownness.

Re: Great day out today

I really enjoyed myself today, the fans were fantastic. Well done everyone

Re: Great day out today

That goes down as the funniest away day in history!

Witnessing PC Igor rugby tackling the Chicken on the pitch was one of the many many hightlights!

Re: Great day out today

Agreed, fantastic day out and the fans were good, we got behind the players and some good chants towards Brown.

"100 Woman... 100 Woman" etc.

Nice Conga line down the stairs too, if only Richard was there we could have walked over him again, just like Huntly!

Roll on next season

Re: Great day out today

Grand day alround. Thanks for the bus,Mike.

Re: Great day out today

Thanks to Montrose for there excellent hospitality again. Looking forward to the same deal next season, brilliant value for money.

Well done the players, result never looked in doubt.

The fans were also superb. Didn't know Derrick had the authority to have two BTP constables escort us all the way up on the train, and they were not in fancy dress. THEY WERE NOT!!!

Thanks to Scooby Doo x 2,Spiderman and Superman, Tweetie Pie, Santa Claus, Skeleton, Cowden Director, The Grim Reaper, The Chicken, Scouser,Dr Deuchar and the two bizzies.

Very dissapointing to see Mrs Hain give the finger to the fans in the stand before the start. If she thought the booing was directed at her then that was not the case. However, a quick reminder Andy,Davie, Kenny, Willie and Dave, 1 member 1 vote at board meetings. Do the decent thing before the start of the season we can help with the rest. Get Brown out of the boardroom, easily done and East Fife can start the season with a new optimism.

P.S. We may have to work on the conga a wee bit!!

Re: Great day out today

Director's wife flips the bird at supporters! That's not on surely. If they don't like the position they find themselves in then they know what to do!

Re: Great day out today

Great day out, really enjoyed myself and nice to see you all again.

One day Derrick will be gone(sadly not yet) so i'll see you all next season on the mound, or where ever.

BLACK AND GOLD NOT BROWN!

Re: Great day out today

Probably the best fun day in football for a while.
The boys and girls in fancy dress, the singing, the very smart chants, Tony the steward (hi I'm Tony and I am your steward for the day),the Montrose Supporters Club hospitality and the fact that many of the players chose to return home in the supporters bus.

Loved it!

Re: Great day out today

I emailed Montrose to thank them for their hospitality.

Re: Great day out today

What we've got to remember here is that these "so-called" supporters are a stain on the club's name. Many of the East Fife fans who don't attend away games won't be aware of the behaviour that is tollerated and encouraged by the protesters.

The pitch invasion at then end of the game demonstares the 'yobbery' that right-thinking-people would find disgraceful.

Even the Montrose chairman has alot to answer for - Free admission for kids, hospitality packages - no wonder he had no shirt on his back.

Re: Great day out today

I love Montrose FC, fine bunch of chaps. Can we play them every week as well? Seem to be the only team we can beat these days. Wasn't always the case mind. Those with long memories will remember us being brushed aside 4 zip at Bayview in 74-75 and even worse 7-1 the following season. Mind you they did have Bertie Miller in their team by then. Why did we get rid of him? We've always been crap in the transfer market.

Re: Great day out today

I recall Dave Gorman was in goals for Montrose that day also.

Re: Great day out today

I have emailed the Montrose Supporters Club today to pass on our thanks.

Oh for the day when our supporters club and trust can return the favour!

Re: Great day out today

That wouldn't be a problem, the mound is a very welcoming place.

Re: Great day out today

10/10 for the guy dressed as the Cowdenbeath director. Anyone can buy a costume but the ''blazer'' was a step above the rest.

Re: Great day out today

Did Colin actually go to Central Park to buy his Cowden scarf and badge, or did he just borrow it off Derrick?

Re: Great day out today

I would like to explain that no money was given to Cowdenbeath in the making of my 'costume'.

Re: Great day out today

The game on Saturday was the first I have attended for some time and agree it was a great day out!

However, I was disappointed with the chanting for Willie G to buy Derrick out.......he most certainly isnt the answer to our troubles.

I have known them both for many years and they make strange bed fellows. Our club needs to get rid of the likes of Derrick and Willie!!

PS thanks Mr Flett for holding the bus for my mate and I, otherwise we would have got no closer to Montrose than The Brig!!

Re: Great day out today

Aye, have to agree with that. Broon and Gray, might be horses of a very different colour but neither are worth backing.

Thanks also to Mike Flett for organising a brilliant day oot. The pies and ham rolls were greatly appreciated.

Good also to see the amount of folk from along the coast that turned up as well. What ever happened to the East Neuk of Fife East Fife Supporter's Club?

Re: Great day out today

I think that the 'Wullie buy him out' chants were more about winding up Derrick rather than seeing Wullie as the answer to all our problems. It is worth pointing out at every opportunity IMO that someone has money to spend and Deek doesn't.

Re: Great day out today

The chant may have been about winding up Derrick but I didn't take it as that and I doubt Willie G did either.

That sort of chant does nothing to help our cause and its more than a bit ironic considering we criticise Broon for being associated with Cowden bearing in mind Willie was Chairman of the Rover's and took them to the brink of extinction.

Re: Great day out today

FAO Eugene

I was interested to read that there were no obusive comments, made towards the directors at the Montrose game.

I attended this game and am sure I heard the chant F**k Off Derrick from the fans in the main stand, perhaps you'll tell me that I am wrong, that there was no swearing or that the term F**k Off is actually at term of endearment in Methil.

What I am certin off however is the way many of the fans shouted obcenities at the end of the game, I was close to them and am in no doubt as to what they were saying.

I dont actually have a problem with swearing but dont say that it doesnt happen when it so obviously does.

Re: Great day out today

Personally did not hear such a "chant" - I was aware of some shouting as the Directors departed at the end of the game but i wasnt paying attention to what was being said, but certainly during the game there was no foul mouthed abuse.

Only slightly dodgy chant was the one about "the ships a tanker....."

Re: Great day out today

i thought that I would like to confirm that I too was at the game and also heard the chant of f**k off Brown. I wasn't to disturbed by this as I support Montrose but did here the foul language from the other end of the stand.
But being dressed up as a chicken it wasn't only the language that was foul...

Re: Great day out today

The chicken didnae swear. The chicken was on his best behaviour...

Re: Great day out today

I was in the thick of it at Montrose.
I heard no such chant. Maybe it happened but was of such a isolated nature it did not register with me.

Individuals communicate in different ways as evidenced any day on public service buses. Manners, language and other mores change with the demographics and generations.

WP get a life!

Re: Great day out today

Big wow,a couple o "f##k off" chants shouted at Broon. As far as i'm concerned,he's f##cked us about for long enough!!!!!!

Re: Great day out today

Let's clear this up here and now, the chant was cluck off Derrick Brown as a tribute to the famous chicken.

Re: Great day out today

I can confirm that I too was at the game. There may well have been individuals shouting and the odd swear word slipping out but the only chants with swearing involved were the 'and that ships a tanker' one and the other was 'cluck off Derrick Brown'.

Here to help!

Re: Great day out today

I was just going to say this too, the chant was "cluck" and not the F word.

So all those folk moaning about our language can get tae cluck

Re: Great day out today

I only heard a couple of swearie words the whole game, and they were hardly threatening.

Certainly didn't stop me from having a santastic day out!

Re: Great day out today

The only swear words I hesrd were mainly from Kris Brash, who had a stinker of a game.

He fell out with the linesman early doors and at one point called him a "lanky prick" whereupon the linesman shot him down in flames with the wittiest of comebacks - "Shut-it"!
