Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Was a telented player.

Hellish news. Thoughts are with his family.

Re: ARRON LOFTING

I remember "Lofty" well, he looked like he had real potential, but fell by the wayside after Davie Clarke left. He seemed to be always substitute and entertained us at half-time with his keepy up skills which were something special.
A real tragedy! Condolences to his family...

Re: ARRON LOFTING

Sorry to hear the news.Thought "Lofty" had great potential and was disappointed when he left East Fife.
Last time I saw him he was working in The Abbey Building Society in St Andrews. He was actually waiting for Jimmy Herkes picking him up to go and play in a cup tie for St. Andrews. Very sad news indeed.

Re: ARRON LOFTING

This is really sad news,i`m sitting here in shock can`t believe this news.
My condolences go to his family.
R.I.P Arron.
I was very dissapointed when he left us because he had so much potential and could have went further.
I remember one game against brechin when he started the game and was outstanding and for some reason was subbed at half time and we fell to pieces and got beat 4-0 at home to Brechin.
Same as Angusfifer he always entertained us at half time with his keepy ups and hitting the crossbar from the edge of the box.
R.I.P Arron.

Re: ARRON LOFTING

Really sad news. Does anyone know what he died of?
Like everyone else who has posted here I remember Aaron as an entertaining player who wasn't really given the chance to realise his full potential with East Fife. I spoke to him at a player of the year dance just after he was told he was no longer required and the guy was absolutely gutted. Despite always being on the bench, he enjoyed being an East Fife player and was desperate to stay with the club.
RIP Lofty.

Re: ARRON LOFTING

Unfortunately it looks like Aaron had taken his own life.
Absolutely tragic.

Re: ARRON LOFTING

Stunned
RIP Arron

Re: ARRON LOFTING

Absoluteley gutted he was a nice laddie RIP Arron

Re: ARRON LOFTING

Any time I have refereed St Andrews, Aaron had always said hi! Knew him from time at Bayvieew of course but knew him from helping out in the Sunday Leagues with the Previous supporters team. Knew most of the guts who played were East Fife fans & always had a blether.

Oh & never favoured him as I sent him off in March against Newburgh!!

Real sad & condolances to his family

Re: ARRON LOFTING

http://www.standrewsutd.co.uk/ some words on Aaron's life.

Re: ARRON LOFTING

Still in shock, it's so, so sad and tragic. I notice he got man of the match in his last game (and also in many other games this season)

From the site, Igor mentioned...

"16 May 2006 - Aaron Lofting remembered

Aaron Lofting
All at St Andrews Utd were sad to hear of the sudden loss of life of player Aaron Lofting. He will be remembered for his expert free kicks and his pleasant happy personality.

Born on 15th April 1982, his enthusiasm for the game was quickly noticed by St Johnstone. He stayed at McDiarmid Park until the year 2000 where he moved to Arbroath. A quick spell at Gayfield was followed by a year at Bayview with East Fife between 2001 and 2002. He then joined Dundee North End before Pete Hutton signed him for St Andrews Utd.

He leaves behind many fond memories to all he connected with. Personally, off the field I will always remember his quirky sense of humour and on the field a superb header in the 'Linlithgow game'. In, the game which has become synonymous with the players and fans, his header opened the scoring in a great 4-2 victory and paved the way for Linlithgow's downfall.
