Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Supporters Club Story in Courier

In today's Courier.

“Missing” cash claim by East Fife supporters
By Craig Smith

MEMBERS of East Fife Supporters’ Club have threatened to pursue legal action against club chairman Derrick Brown following an alleged misappropriation of funds.

Angry members of the supporters’ club met on Saturday after it emerged a surplus of £123.50 from the group’s player of the year dance on April 22 was mistakenly delivered to EFFC instead of the supporters’ treasurer Dave Marshall.

The money raised from the event, held at the Buckhaven Community Centre, would normally be processed through the supporters’ club accounts and members would then vote on what to do with any extra.

However, Mr Marshall claimed he has repeatedly asked East Fife for the cash to be returned, only to be told it was being treated as a donation and would not be given back.

Following Saturday’s meeting, supporters’ club members have instructed their committee to take legal action unless the money is given back.

Ironically, Mr Marshall told The Courier members usually decide to make a donation to East Fife anyway when all is said and done.

“I can’t see that happening now,” Mr Marshall commented.

“Our members are really incensed at the way Mr Brown has behaved.

“I contacted the club as soon as the mistake was realised but even then they did not respond.

“It took three messages before they got back to me and said they regarded it as a donation and wouldn’t be giving it back.

“With recent events at Bayview many of our members are completely exasperated with the way Mr Brown behaves and, sad though it may be, they are willing to see him in court.”

Mr Marshall revealed that, unless the money is handed back, the next course of action will be to consult legal advisers, while police intervention has also not been ruled out.

The supporters’ club has donated more than £5000 to East Fife in the past five years but now maintains it cannot enter into “meaningful dialogue” with the football club until the issue is sorted out.

Supporters’ chairman Davie Robertson added, “Over recent years we have donated several thousands of pounds to the club and to say we are disappointed at their stance is putting it mildly.”

Despite repeated attempts by The Courier to contact him yesterday, Mr Brown was unavailable for comment.

"Mr Brown was unavailable for comment"
Theres a surprise...........

Re: Supporters Club Story in Courier

The endless stream of bad publicity to come out of Bayview just continues, and it's all down to The Board of EFFC.

This club under the tenure of Derrick Brown and the present board members is the laughing stock of Scottish Football, unfortunately the fans fail to see the joke.

Something has to happen and quickly.

Re: Supporters Club Story in Courier

Couldnt see anything in the EFM?

Re: Supporters Club Story in Courier

As Jim questioned previously, who was the person who mistakenly handed the cheque into EFFC and who did they mistakenly hand it to. Surely the member of the supporters club didn't make themselves clear or they would have held on to the cheque.

Re: Supporters Club Story in Courier

as far as I know that it was cash and no member handed it over,

Re: Supporters Club Story in Courier

If had been a cheque it could have been cancelled

Re: Supporters Club Story in Courier

Did this anonymous person ask for a receipt, as you do when handing over cash.

Re: Supporters Club Story in Courier

Stan

Get a grip.

This was a genuine mistake by a third party.
It's not the issue.

Re: Supporters Club Story in Courier

This guy is unbelievable!
How the hell is this man still in charge at your club?
GTF............Community control and join the trust!

Re: Supporters Club Story in Courier

If this situation is so clear cut as most are saying then why oh why are no actions being taken as suggested, I wonder.

Re: Supporters Club Story in Courier

What's clear cut is that a club who have been given thousands of pounds in the past in good faith have been treated like scum by the board in not returning the money.

It's fucking ludicrous and no matter how you put on it.

Re: Supporters Club Story in Courier

That makes so sense but you know what I mean

EFSC good.
Current EFFC board, bad.
