Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

protest song

Every good protest needs a good protest song so here's my rendition

to the tune of "show me the way to amarillo"

When the day is dawning,
On a methil Saturday morning,
How I long to be there,
With Betty who’s waiting for me there

But on the mound,
Where the protest’s at,
Everybody’s saying,
That I’m a fucking twat

(chorus)
Betty says that I amaze her,
Every night when I’m wearing my blazer,
I need a bodyguard with a laser,
To keep the mob away from me

I can hear them yelling,
All the absolute lies that they’re telling
Surrounded by reporters,
Even though I’m fife’s biggest supporter

I close my eyes, start thinking,
And off to sleep I go,
Start dreaming of a chicken,
With a wheelbarrow

(chorus)
Betty says that I amaze her,
Every night when I’m wearing my blazer,
I need a bodyguard with a laser,
To keep the mob away from me

Sha la la la la la la la
Sha la la la la la la la
Sha la la la la la la la
Please keep the mob away from me

Re: protest song

Class!

Re: protest song

Truly brilliant! Whilst we may not remember all the words, the chorus will certainly stick!

Hey, we could make up a protest songbook and present it to visiting supporters! A bit like going to the kirk and getting a hymn book!

Re: protest song

I think it's time to open a "songbook" section on the blog so get the creative juices flowing folks. Hopefully we'll never need to sing them right enough, but you never know, a couple of years down the line Derrick will be back at Bayview as a Cowden hanger on

Re: protest song

(To the tune of Popeye the sailor man)

Derrick the Cowden fan
The right-thinking people's man
We give him nightmares, and he wont sell us shares

Derrick the Cowden fan
The right-thinking people's man
He's a bigger supporter, of 50 years no shorter
Derrick the Cowden fan

Derrick the Cowden fan
The right-thinking people's man
Can you hear his loud cries, it's all absolute lies!
