Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

The great £4m con

Don't get overexcited, or excited at all in fact, about press reports today. The reality is that there was a tentative approach some months ago from an interested party (possibly a supermarket group), but the whole thing is a non-starter on all possible grounds - access, parking, council planning policy etc.

Anyway, they would want to knock the stadium down and we would end up having to share with the Rovers - something that RR and the Council would be happy to see, but in Kirkcaldy. Hands up all those in favour!

Funny, though, that by an amazing coincidence this is in the papers now, when DB is clinging desperately to power and trying to show what a sharp operator he is and what a valuable club he is running so well. Dream on, Derrick!

Re: The great £4m con

Might have known. What will he try next to stay in power? Reminds me of an elderly German gent in a bunker, staring defeat in the face but not accepting.

The Rovers issue is interesting, though. By all accounts they are virtually dead in the water again and maybe we should take them over, change their name, and hey presto we're in the second division!

One last thought. If - sorry, when - DB is deposed what role would be suitable for him after that? Maybe bar steward? Or boot man?

Re: The great £4m con

It's strange that you think Raith are dead in the water as apart from having Dalziel in charge I get the feeling that the club is in pretty good shape.

It's a shame that we're not a little bit closer as I would be all for building a brand new stadium along with the F*fe. Half the seats in blue and white and the other in black and gold.

Re: The great £4m con

Yeah, thanks for bringing us back down to earth, in hindsight it's quite obviously a load of pish. But if it was true, we should sell Bayview, rake in the cash and move to Glenrothes to a redeveloped Warout Stadium. I'm not convinced East Fife will ever get the business backing we need in our current location, and if the much discussed (every election) rail link ever happens, it wouldn't be a problem uprooting.
Back to sleep..
