Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Here it is...

Fifers power past Brandon

ARNGROVE Northern League side Brandon United were given a lesson by Scottish visitors East Fife last night.

The visitors romped to a 4-0 win, and could have won by a larger margin such was their dominance on a parched pitch.
John Martin grabbed a hat-trick, and could have had five. His opener was a powerful 10-yard drive in off the bar, he doubled the lead with a cool finish, curling the ball around the keeper from inside the box, and completed his treble when he tucked home a superb Scott Crabbe cutback.
Ex-Raith striker Martin also ballooned a header high over the bar when he ought to have scored, and was ball greedy in the final minute when trying to force the ball home, when team-mates were better placed.
Brandon's young side tried hard but offered little real threat, barring a couple of early opportunities and a five-minute flurry late on. East Fife made it four when Kevin Gordon cut in from the right and hit a left-footer which somehow got under the keeper and crept agonisingly slowly into the net.
Neil Jablonski had a goal disallowed for offside after he chipped the keeper.
H Seaham Red Star will entertain Spennymoor Town in the first round of the Craven Cup for Arngrove Northern League Second Division clubs.
First round: A Alnwick v Norton, B Marske Utd v North Shields, C Penrith v Prudhoe, D Seaham Red Star v Spennymoor Town, E Thornaby v Esh Winning
Second round: A v Hebburn, C v B, D v Stokesley SC, South Shields v Washington, Sunderland RCA v Brandon Utd, Team Northumbria v Guisborough, E v Crook Town, Whickham v Ryton.
