Let me say right at the start that I don’t know who The Mole is and that what follows is no more than plausible conjecture.

He/she claims to have inside knowledge and to know the “main players” and uses this apparent knowledge to cast all sorts of doubts over the intentions of various parties, particularly Willie Gray. His/her knowledge suggests someone with an involvement in Scottish football probably at club board level

So we need to work out who could have access to the level of info he has shown, who would have an interest in undermining WG and why would they want to do that.

I would rule out any existing members of the EFFC Board – there are plenty of channels they can use to get their points across without adopting a false name on a website. Nor can I see how anyone of them would benefit from the exercise.

So if it’s not an EFFC board member it’s someone involved with another football club but why would he/she want to prevent WG being involved at East Fife? Here we must remember Section 13 of the SFA rules concerning dual involvement – no-one can be involved in the administration of more than one club at a time (yes, I know about the Ms Twigg story!) If there is another club who want Willie Gray, not only for his good looks and business background but also possibly for his money(!) then he must be encouraged to leave us for the other club. Campaigning against him with dire warnings etc may be one way to do that – after all WG doesn’t need the hassle.

Let us pop a few miles along the Standing Stane road. Here we have a club with apparently a cash flow crisis which is likely to worsen. We have an interesting set up whereby the rent for the ground, wages etc have to be paid (but see previous point). Supposing a nice man like WG could be persuaded that East Fife is not worth the bother and that he’d be much better going back along the road back to his first true love. Oh and bring some money with him so that the wages and rent can be paid.

Now I have no idea who’s in charge of what in Kirkcaldy but there may be someone associated with the club whose vested interests - not necessarily those of the RR board itself – would be best served by the above situation.

Eugene, you are losing the plot here. Willie Gray was frozen out at Raith Rovers when Reclaim The Rovers was formed to save the club from the Gray regime (Anelka etc). For goodness sake, he did not choose to leave Raith to join East Fife. He joined East Fife because he was out on his arse. If the current Raith board could banish him further than Methil, they would. No-one at Stark's Park wants him back. That's why he says he wants East Fife to pass Raith on the way up - he has an axe to grind.
