Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

and there's more

There is a saying and probably some clever clogs will post a correction, who said it and when:

"The only thing we learn from history is that we don't learn anything."

The situation now reminds me of the Trust's share debacle. You remember half were offered with the possibility of the other half to be received after the AGM. So we all sat back and waited and we know what happened then. Well not really sat back as I know there was action in the background.

This is a similar ploy ie. removal of Brown from the chairmanship with complete removal sometime in the future. I have already posted why I think stopping the protest as we did the last time would be wrong.

Lets face it it is the shareholders who hold the key and Sid and Willie for all their talk do not hold enough shares anyway to deliver and need to gain the support of at least Twigg and/or The Rogers family which does not seem to be forthcoming. No wonder with Sid offering the derisory sum of £3 a share when each share may be entitled to a windfall of upwards of £20 in one or two years.

So basically we are in the same position as if Sid did not come around except that Brown as they say will be removed as chairman but still there and with his shares and proxies (if he can retain them) still hold the power albeit behind the throne.

So why are we suggesting stopping the protest?

Re: and there's more

Buying promises with words is easy - buying promises with action is a little more difficult - all the talk in the world will not change the fact that Brown has to go - action is needed.
