Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Fit and Proper Person

To use an old phrase, and one that has been used to describe d'ick in the past, but can he really be seen as a "fit and proper person" as secretary/treasurer of a company given his previous employment record.

As everybody knows D'ick was an employee of Smith and Grant Solicitors. Around the same time as a previous Chairmans demise our D'ick lost his job (sacked??) from Smith and Grant. Does anybody know the real reason??

There has also been comments of "Derrick should not be trusted with money" from people.

Now the question has to be asked again, is this the sort of person that is "fit and proper" to hold the position of secretary/treasurer of a company?

Re: Fit and Proper Person

Ineresting info. Gives credence to my theory that he has pulled a scam at the club with purchase and selling of shares

Re: Fit and Proper Person

It's all just rumour. Even if it was true, any employer is permitted to take on an employee if they accept his past employment history.

On a purely subjective level, the question "is Brown fit for purpose" is easy to answer. He is fit for nothing at East Fife, and has spent the last few years proving this.

Re: Fit and Proper Person

Just had to make a wee adjustmet to your post Fife PM as we don't have any real proof of the incident.

If anyone does have any proof tho...

Re: Fit and Proper Person

No probs BB

Rogered
The question is do his current employers realise his employment history? I would doubt it.

Re: Fit and Proper Person

No harm in letting them all know, although I am sure Mackay, Hamilton and Stevenson are aware.

Re: Fit and Proper Person

We have to led Sid Collumbine know as much as possible about D'ick. I'm sure he's only been hearing how good he is from the man himself.

Re: Fit and Proper Person

The story is consistent with the behaviour that drives someone like him to petty theft using Sun vouchers for the Scottish Cup match.

Re: Fit and Proper Person

Now guys you know we can't leave that up without having proof. We don't want to give derrick any excuses for trying to claim the fans are trying to intimidate him!

In saying that, very interesting and we actually have someone trying to find out the facts straight from the horses mouth as it were!

Re: Fit and Proper Person

Keep us all posted BB.

TBH I think D'ick would be the last person to want to make a big deal of this. If he tried taking anybody to court he might have to face his former employers in the witness box. Then we would all know the truth, including his current employers.

Re: Fit and Proper Person

Are you suggesting that while Julian rogered the bairns Deek rogered the safe?

Re: Fit and Proper Person

Moving from speculation to reality - we are starting the season with a manager who is still under investigation by the SFA as to whether he is a fit and proper person. Frankly he should never have been appointed with this issue hanging over him. Shooting ourselves in the foot, or what?

Re: Fit and Proper Person

Be even more concerned now with Browne. He is now being paid to manage the accounts. He will need no assitance from the Chef Scott Lyall in how to cook the books.
