Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

FAO Angus Fifer

Just read the article about your Grandfather when he played for Cowdenbeath and managed to overcome the knife wielding Arbroath player on the train to Dundee in 1905 (on the Pie and Bovril Div.2 Forum). Excellent stuff. What I can't understand, though, is that the player who was knifed in the leg managed to alight at Dundee, walk all the way up the Hilltown, realise he was bleeding to death, report the incident to the police (presumably not by mobile 'phone in 1905!), and the police still managed to be at Arbroath station to arrest the assailant before the train reached smokieville!
Anyway, Angus, I'll keep quiet about your Grandad playing for Cowdenbeath - your secret's safe with me. Of course, as I called this post 'FAO Angus Fifer', there's no chance of anyone else reading it, is there?

Re: FAO Angus Fifer

Jim - have u never heard of the 'Tardis'?????

Re: FAO Angus Fifer

Yeah, the time factor occurred to me too Jim.
A timely warning to us all to watch out for knife wielding Arbroath FC officials when travelling by train eh?

Re: FAO Angus Fifer

"FAO Angus Fifer", the header read.

Either you've had to read the post over and over again, Angus, or 116 people now know your Grandad played for Cowdenbeath!
