Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

On reflection

A few seasons back we had won promotion the support was bubbling and all pulling together - and what happened - a poisened dwarf took over the running of the club - the support became fractured - and it all went steeply downhill for East-Fife FC - the lesson to be learned! - 1) you can be the greatest supporter in the world - but if you have half baked self indulgent lying nincumpoops running your club it can all go pear shaped very quickly - 2) You want people on the board who are more interested in acheiving success for East-Fife FC instead of these who use the club for there own agenda - do we have that at the moment?

Re: On reflection

Amazingly Mike I agree with a bit of what you say but I'd make one comment.

Peiople can have different agendas but still obtain good outcomes.

I have absolutely no problem with shareholders reaping large profits provided this is accompanied by the club acting in an acceptable way in relation to its fans, the local community and the development of sport in the area.

And don't forget that the Trust as a shareholder is also in a stronger position if the club's assets increase in value which means it may have more resources to achieve our own specific aims.

It will also, through its EFFC board membership have a direct influence on what the club does and how it operates.

So let's not get all pure and holy about folk making money through shareholding - in my experience those who object most are those who have who rely on the public sector for their income - a category I freely adnmit I belonged to until a few years ago - which is maybe why my attitude has changed!

Re: On reflection

Peiople? - I see you have a dyslexic keyboard - the same as me - I also agree with a bit of what you say in regard to shareholder remuniration in respect of there investment - I also believe 100% that the only to secure the future of the club is with a supporters Trust - however - its all very well saying if the value of your shares increase the Trust financial resources increase - what if that financial increase is due to the clubs resources being sold? - can you give a 100% guarantee this will not happen? - and with one trust member on the board against 3 or 4 or 5 other board members who all want to sell up - and with this Trust board member bound by the legalities of not discussing board decisions - what influence do you have then? -

Re: On reflection

Much more than if we didn't have anyone!

Re: On reflection

All I am intimating Eugene is that I hope the person chosen as the the Trust rep to go on the board is a strong astute character with a bit of vision and will not allow themselves to be brow beaten by the money men - but then that will only happen if a Trust member is actually voted onto the board - wont it!

Re: On reflection

Having witnessed a Trust Meeting last night in the Lounge I would not give anyone of them a Seat on a Bus

"Having witnessed a Trust Meeting last night in the Lounge I would not give anyone of them a Seat on a Bus"

Well Ross, as there wasn't a Trust meeting in the lounge or anywhere else last night I'm not sure I'd like you to drive it, what with your eyesight and attention to accuracy!

Re: On reflection

Indeed Eugene, he's probably the sort of person who would drive through a set of cones at Morrisons roundabout in Glenrothes, on Saturday the 12th of August 2006!

Re: On reflection

Having travelled over 350 miles yesterday with Eugene driving I would refute any suggestions that his driving is erratic. Indeed exemplary would be a better description. As for there being a Trust Board Meeting on Wednesday. This is total fabrication the last Trust Board meeting was on Tuesday evening at 7.30pm ,where eight people voluntarily gave up their time to attend this meeting. Just the same as 6 people gave up a whole day yesterday to visit a complex that has excellent community facilities and to which these people are hoping can be relpicated locally.
So Ross why let the truth get in the way of the shite you post
