Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Not with a bang

After last night's meeting with Sid and Willie it appears the protest has been called off. At least by those present who agreed on the assurances given that there was no point on it carrying on.

The main points from the meeting were:

1. The only easy way to remove Brown from the chairmanship was to offer him the paid position of secretary.

2. It was assured that Brown would be removed as a director at the AGM in December. There are apparently legalities again that would prevent Brown to be removed before this time. As to his position as paid secretary no definate assurance but it was indicated there should be no difficuty here.

3. There is a definate split on the board but with Brown's removal as chairman oor wullie has the casting vote.

4. The appointment of a Trust representative to the board is apparently not allowed according to the club constituion.

5. The rules will be changed so that directors have to stand for re-election.

Well what do you think is it a whimper?

Re: Not with a bang

cheers for the inside info and now i will do all i can to make sure i am not removed in december.

Re: Not with a bang

Says it all. Game over.

4. The appointment of a Trust representative to the board is apparently not allowed according to the club constituion.

Re: Not with a bang

Absolutely no further forward whatsoever.

Still Brown no trust involvment. Total con job being fed little scraps of nothing.

Re: Not with a bang

Why can't a trust representitive be appointed and are there plans to ammend the constitution to allow this to happen?

Re: Not with a bang

The articles of the club do not state that we can't have a rep on the board, however, they do not state that we can either! It is a very grey area. If someone wanted to be very very pedantic (guess who) then they could challenge it. Steps are being taken to ensure this is changed and it will be changed at the AGM.

The Trust will go ahead as planned and elect a representative to be on the board of the club.

Re: Not with a bang

Thanks Kerriann.

Re: Not with a bang

Good Luck to the trust when they get there

Re: Not with a bang

Why didn't Gray say that?

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

He near kills the Rovers, hates Trusts, feeds shite about Brown maybe being removed by the year 2014.

And the protests stopped?

Gee whiz. Some folk are easily pleased/appeased/blinkered.

Re: Not with a bang

I did not get the impression that Sid was keen to get a trust representative and promised to get the rules changed if necessary to do this. In fact just the opposite, as all that I remember him saying was that he has had legal advice and it would not be allowed according to the present constitution. He did also raise the matter of confidentiallity if a representative was appointed.

Perhaps at the Supporter's club meeting next week, clear assurances can be given that the rules will be changed at the AGM to remove any obstacles to a fans representative. A definate commitment that Sid will have a fans representative on board would also be good.

After all it is the way forward and all wishing the best for the club should be pushing for this.
