Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Can we get promotion??

We have the bases of a squad to get us promotion but it would take one or two tweaks to actually guarentee promotion - both our current goalkeepers are prone to the odd error each game so far and this could cost us valuable points as the season progresses - when Blackadder is not quite at the top of his game we need someone else to try and be creative and commanding in the midfield - and we need a natural greedy goalscorer to make use of the chances we make but do not take - and a tricky winger who can cross a ball would not go amiss. We should have won todays game fairly comfortably - but in the end our shortcomings were exposed - the strongest part of 99% of football teams is the centre of defence and if you continually attack that area its inevitable that you will get nothing out of it as the defending team knows what to expect - I think there was only one occasion today where the ball was crossed from the deadball line by our team and everything else seemed to go through the middle hence Montrose got the three points - so a good reliable goalkeeper - a creative midfielder - a goal poacher and a winger who can cross - that would guarentee promotion - as it is yes we will be in the hunt come the end of the season.

Re: Can we get promotion??

Well yes to the question, but a reality check today nonetheless. May be no bad in the long term.
