Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Idea For Trust (or the Club!)

Had an idea for a service for a while that I've never been able to get off the ground with AFTN supplying, so thought that the Trust may be the best people to try and get it going.

Just wanting to post an exploratory thread to gauge demand.

It's for a programme subscription service for exiles.

Basically, you pay up front to be sent home or away or both programmes throughout the season.

Provided at cost (and postage) and maybe a token amount for the Trust and possibly the Trust could get a discount for bulk buying different club's programmes.

Would anyone be interested in this if we could somehow get the service off the ground? And would the Trust be willing to consider it?

Re: Idea For Trust (or the Club!)

Yes – I would be interested

Re: Idea For Trust (or the Club!)

Could they be scanned and forwarded via email?

Re: Idea For Trust (or the Club!)

GOF. I think this is a good idea. If you look at East Stirling's website, they operate an on-line shop. So exiles can buy scarves and strips as well as programmes.

Re: Idea For Trust (or the Club!)

I'd certainly be interested as I have a 300 mile round trip these days and don't make too many games.

DHAS - it's not just East Stirling, most clubs can offer this service. But as we all know this takes a half decent website and a bit of commercial acumen, two things that seem beyond the wit and wisdom of those who are meant to be responsible for such things at Bayview.

Re: Idea For Trust (or the Club!)

I have taken the liberty to post this on FFTW as there are loads of ex-pats who still follow the Fife and might be interested in such a service.

Re: Idea For Trust (or the Club!)

Haven't spoken to any others in the Trust but my opinion is that we do whatever we can to keep those who can't attend in touch.

Re: Idea For Trust (or the Club!)

I think you will find that the club already has a programme subscription service running, several exiles already have the programme posted to them and have done so for several years.

Re: Idea For Trust (or the Club!)

Well you won't find that 'info' on the fucking website?

Who'd expect that

Re: Idea For Trust (or the Club!)

I’ve never heard this. Last time I visited, nobody mentioned this at the club

Re: Idea For Trust (or the Club!)

If they do it already then that's great.

They should just maybe advertise it a bit more or is it only if you ask?

Do you know if they do the same for away matches too?

Re: Idea For Trust (or the Club!)

I do not know about the away matches. Why not ask Leona about it. I have no wish to detract from the idea but I feel it is already in force.
