Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Great picture...

...in today's Sun of Paul Ritchie's second goal on Saturday.
Did Jim Corstorphine manage to get one? He was spotted, lurking around with a camera, pretending to be a photographer...

Re: Great picture...

Did anyone notice how small Jim's was compared to the whoppers the other photographers had!!!!

Re: Great picture...

Unfortunately, I didn't get the goal because my view of Paul Ritchie was blocked by the near post. I did get Gary O'Connor diving to try to save the shot, but unfortunately he was also blocking my view of the ball when the shutter went so all I got was a picture of the goalie in mid-air! However, I DID get a great photo of Paul Hampshire being brought down for the penalty which should appear in the next home programme along with a few other great action shots (taken through a 70-300mm telephoto lens, Liam, NOT the one I had attached when you saw me take a photo of Craig O'Reilly!).
The Sun photographer who took the photo, who was sitting on my right, was absolutely delighted that he'd managed to capture it, but then it was hardly surprising as he told be his camera was capable of taking action photos at EIGHT frames per second! (my brand new £650 Canon only takes at three frames per second!).
He was actually a really nice guy and helped me set up my camera at half time to what he reckoned would be the best settings and shutter speed for the conditions. I wish I'd got his contact details now as he would probably have been happy to email me a copy of the photo.

Re: Great picture...

Hard to believe that a mere goalpost could obscure a view of either Paul Richie or Jim Corstorphine!
