Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Ally Mitchell

Never got the chance to see him play in his first spell at the club but i'm sure I am not alone in thanking him for the service he gave to East Fife FC and wishing him all the best for the future, cheers Ally

Re: Ally Mitchell

I was at the game that he played as a trialist for us against Stirling Albion. He scored a hat-trick that night and Gavin Murray signed after the game.Ally, you given a lot of people a lot of pleasure watching you play for both East Fife and Kilmarnock. All the best.

Re: Ally Mitchell

Never got to see him play in the black and gold quite dissapointed at that.WAs one of the things i was looking forward to when i seen he signed for us this season.Oh well just one of those things.
Great servent to Scottish football.
All the best in the future Ally.

Re: Ally Mitchell

Sorry to see things never worked out this season but I remember you well from your first spell at Bayview.
I'm sure you will always be welcome at Bayview in the future. Best of luck Ally.

Re: Ally Mitchell

For the benefit of us exiles.... what happened?

Re: Ally Mitchell

According to the Courier he has retired due to niggling injuries. I previously posted that on another forum he was being lined up to join the management team at Lochore Welfare.
Like Dave Marshall, I was also at the Stirling Albion reserve match when Ally scored three goals as a trialist. A work colleague of mine was also a trialist, but obviously failed to impress (nor the following week at Alloa).
I think that was the best individual performance I have ever seen from an East Fife player. In addition to the three goals, he hit the woodwork twice with long range efforts, and would run back thirty yards tackling the opposing winger before launching another attack.
Many years later, I was a hospitality guest at Ibrox (Walter Smith's last game), where Ally scored a late winner to ensure European football for Killie. (Gordon Marshall and Gordon Durie also played in that game).
A fantastic servant to his clubs, and I wish Ally all the best for his future.
