Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Player's Songs

Seems like a long time since we sang individual songs about players, like "Gilberto oh oh oh, he runs like a new-born foal" etc.
I'd have thought that Ryan Blackadder would have been an obvious choice for the song writers, by adapting the theme tune from the Blackadder comedies (maybe everyone apart from me is too young to remember them though!!)

Re: Player's Songs

Eh.... no.

Re: Player's Songs

So Jim do you mean something like 'Slackbladder slackbladder he dribbles all over the park'?

Okay I'll get my coat.

Re: Player's Songs

Blackadder, Blackadder, He's very good indeed.
Blackadder, Blackadder, He's nae hair on his heid!

I'm currently working on a ditty to the tune of La Bamba but am going to need some help - if Ian Curtis is reading this - drop ne an email!!!

Re: Player's Songs

Nothing could ever beat the effectiveness of the chant for Joe Hughes in the seventies...

"Joe, Joe, Get in and have a go!
Have a go! Have a go! Joe. Get in and have a go!"

This chant was generally the signal for Joe to clash with the goalkeper who was either removed injured or shaken to such an extent that he lost all appetite for keeping his goal intact.

Of course it's doubtful if Joe's brand of "enthusiasm" would be such an asset in the modern game. Compared to Joe, Willie Broon was a wee lassie.
