Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND.

After many cities not wanting to offend other cultures by putting up
Christmas lights............ (including Havant, Hampshire),After
hearing that the Birmingham council changed its opinion and let a
Muslim woman have her picture on her driver's licence with her face
covered...............
After hearing of a Primary School in Birmingham where a boy was told
That for PE they could wear Football League shirts (Aston Villa,
Birmingham, West Brom etc) but NOT an England shirt as it could offend
others!

This prompted the editorial below written by a UK citizen. Published in
a British tabloid newspaper.

Quote: IMMIGRANTS, NOT BRITONS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some
individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on London, we
have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Brits.
However, the dust from the attacks has barely settled and the
politically correct" crowd begin complaining about the possibility that
our patriotism is offending others. I am not against immigration, nor
do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by
coming to Britain. However, there are a few things that those who have
recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.
This idea of Britain being a multicultural community has served only to
dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Britons, we have
our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own
lifestyle.
This culture has been developed over centuries of wars, struggles,
trials and victories, by millions of men and women who have sought
freedom.
We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese,
Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part
of our society, Learn the language! "In God We Trust" is our National
Motto.
This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted
this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles,
founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly
appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends
you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new
home, because God is part of our culture. If St.George's cross or St Christopher offends you, or you don't like " A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.
We are happy with our culture
and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did
things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR
LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this.
But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag,
Our Pledge, Our National Motto, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage
you take advantage of one other great British freedom, "THE RIGHT TO
LEAVE". If you aren't happy here then f*** off! We didn't force you to come here.
You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.
Pretty easy really, when you think about it.

I figure if we all keep
passing this to our friends (and enemies) it will also, sooner or later
get back to the complainers, so let's all try, please.
No matter how many times you receive it.... please forward it to all
you know.

scottish not british. stick yir BNP rants where the sun never shines.

Re: OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND.

This topic not only applies to GB but to every country in Western Europe where the influx of immigrants is very high and is causing a lot of unrest. Look at the riots in the suburbs of Paris where unemployed youngsters from North African origin ( put that quite nicely) are causing havoc with the public transport. In Belgium the nationalist party ( hotly denied) of Mr de Winter is against the ghettos arising in cities like Antwerp and Brussels. In Germany with the large Turkish community in Kreuzberg, a suburb of Berlin is hitting the news again with a lot of unrest.

In Holland, immigrants have to pass an integration test at the Dutch Embassy in their home country before they are allowed into the country. Immigrants wanting to bring their future bride from their native country must earn 120% of the minimum wage before an entry visa is granted. I could go on but I think the point is made. Some say that this is the price West Europe has to pay 1) for the old colony days and b) for the liberal governments through out Europe for bringing immigrants into their countries during the booming economy in the late 60's and early 70's to do the dirty low paid jobs which natives refused to do.
Once here , they refuse to return to their native land. The problem I believe lies with the 2nd and 3rd generation who are caught up in an identity crisis being neither British/French/Dutch etc nor their country of origin.

Re: OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND.

Tosser.

The St Georges cross means feck all to me.

God doesn't come in to it much either.

Oh and Editorials are normally written by editorial staff (bit of a giveaway there), not by "normal" people, and certainly wouldn't include swearing.

Kindly return to the Daily Mail website where you may be more appreciated.

Re: OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND.

Ps my last comment was aimed at the topic starter, before anyone else gets offended.

Re: OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND.

If I want to live in, work in, or visit any part of the world I want, then, (as long as I don't harm anyone else), why shouldn't I be allowed to?

Re: OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND.

What is this "British Culture" he speaks of? I doubt if there is such a thing.

Scotland has a long history of immigration, and if people are prepared to work hard and make a contribution to Scotland, they're welcome. Lets face it, our biggest problem is the 60,000 people who LEAVE every year because there are so few opportunities here.

But I suppose it keeps the unemployment figures down, right? And we can always poach nurses and doctors from Africa (stuff them!) to plug the huge gaps in our training requirements. What's it called again, the "Fresh Talent Initiative"...
