Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Match Report from Courier

EAST FIFE manager Dave Baikie said he was disappointed not to take three points, following a 1-1 draw with Elgin City at New Bayview, deeming his players’ performance “one of the best this season.”

The Methil men dominated the first half, with Ryan Blackadder, Elliot Smith and Kevin Gordon creating numerous chances.

The deadlock was finally broken on 33 minutes by Sam Linton, who was quick to fire home the rebound after a shot by team-mate Tom Courts.

Craig O’Reilly almost made it 2-0 for the Fifers minutes from half-time but his effort went over the bar.

Elgin came back stronger in the second half and Craig Campbell looked set to equalise on 56 minutes but keeper John Dodds was quick to deny him.

The visiting fans didn’t have long to wait, however, as minutes later Campbell crossed to Paul Kaczan who blasted the ball home.

“We totally dominated in the first half and created excellent chances,” said Baikie. “We controlled the game and the first 45 minutes were one of the best performances this season.

“I thought Craig O’Reilly and Scott Crabbe played very well and it was a good team effort.

“Unfortunately, we missed too many chances in the second half and (I) can’t take it away from Elgin, they played extremely well in the latter half and really came back into the game with a great goal by Kaczan.

“It’s two points lost and it is disappointing to draw considering the quality we showed but to go six or seven games without defeat is something to be proud of and we should focus on that.”

Before the match, fans observed a minute’s silence for Cellardyke fisherman Eddie Gardner, who was lost in the Meridian boat tragedy in the North Sea last week.

In the club’s programme, an East Fife fan and friend of Mr Gardner, Jim Corstorphine, wrote, “The thoughts of everyone who knew Eddie are with his family and the families of all the crew members of the Meridian at this time.”
