Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Re: Lee Wilkie

Seen it in todays paper little bit at the bottom. would be good 2 replace doyle.

COLLIN SAMUEL (pictured) is winning his fitness battle and should be available for Dundee United’s match against Kilmarnock on Saturday.

The Trinidadian international striker had to come off at half-time during the win over Rangers because of a hamstring problem and had been considered extremely doubtful for the Ayrshire men’s visit.

However, it looks like manager Craig Levein will have him available for selection after all.

“I was a bit surprised that he was able to train but it looks like he has a chance for the weekend now,” said Levein.

“With Noel Hunt being back from suspension and David Goodwillie showing up well after coming on for Samuel on Sunday the situation up front is looking brighter.”

Levein, who watched Killie reach the semi-finals of the CIS Cup by beating Motherwell on Tuesday, knows the opposition won’t be short of their own attacking options.

“Steven Naismith was sharp, tricky and always a goal threat, while they also have Peter Leven, Danny Invincibile and Gary Wales as options,” he added.

Meanwhile, Levein had a chat with central defender Lee Wilkie yesterday to lay the ground for a loan move to a lower league club, probably East Fife.

“Lee had been carrying a hamstring injury but he trained today and looked all right,” said the United boss.

“He is maybe still not 100% there but I think he will be OK to go out on loan.”
