Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Former Fifers (and one 'loan Fifer') in action

Plenty of former Fifers in action today in the St Andrews United v Musselburgh match.
Saints had Jim Herkes, Kris Brash, Grant Cunningham, Graham Nicoll and East Fife loan player Robert Crawford in their side. It would have been more had Steve Hutcheon not left the club last month and if Gordon Love hadn't had a huge bust-up in training with another player in midweek. He didn't turn up for the game!
Turning out for Musselburgh was Davie Marshall's auld pal HAW KEENNNNYYYYY Munro.

Photos are at www.putfile.com/dyker

(Apolologies for the photo on the home page, putfile insisted I uploaded a photo of myself and that was the only one to hand!)

Re: Former Fifers (and one 'loan Fifer') in action

Great photos as usual Jim.

I still think Grant Cunningham is a better player than Junior league football.

Re: Former Fifers (and one 'loan Fifer') in action

Have to agree there SPF. A good player is one that does the simple things well. Grant was all over the park today, getting in good positions and making his presence felt without really setting the heather on fire.
I have to say, though, I was rather impressed with Robert Crawford (our guy on loan to the Saints) - he came on as a sub after - I think - 55 minutes and slotted in to the right-back role. He really made an impression on the game. Looked really confident and benefitted from some good coaching from the St Andrews bench.

Herkes photo never came up Jim, did he look that bad it's been censored ?

Re: Former Fifers (and one 'loan Fifer') in action

Was John Martin (son of the stuttering goalie) playing for Musselburgh?
Both he and Kenny Munro played against Glenrothes recently.

Re: Former Fifers (and one 'loan Fifer') in action

John Martin (son of the scab goalie) was without doubt the worst striker i've ever seen in a Fife jersey, I think he played a whole season up front and scored about one goal under Kirkie.

Re: Former Fifers (and one 'loan Fifer') in action

TBH, I never noticed John Martin, son of the BLACKLEG (for want of a better word) Martin playing for Musselburgh, although it's a while since he played for us so I might not have recognised him.
Igor - he did score one very memorable goal for us though, on 26th December 1998, when he scored in the last minute (if not injury time) to give us a 3-2 win against Caley Thistle at Bayview Stadium.

Re: Former Fifers (and one 'loan Fifer') in action

I remember that one well Jim, must have been one of the very few he scored for us though.
