Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Board Stiff

Here's a good one. I hear on the best of authority that Neil Rankine has fallen out with the dolts who run Dumbarton, has resigned from their Board, and will shortly sell the club to a new buyer. These are the same shower, by the way, who more or less pushed Sid Collumbine out.

What was the reason - the Dumbarton Board, believe it or not, has agreed with Celtic that the admission charge to their cup tie at Parkhead will be £9, with concessions at £3.50 (!!!). After Celtic bluffed them into that with suggestions of a poor crowd they announced that their supporters have to attend every game to bet a ticket for the Milan match. So Dumbarton lose around £150,000 and their Chairman. You couldn't make it up.

Anyway, probably to cover their embarassment, and to ensure they keep their blazers secure until the Parkhead match, the Board at Dumbarton are trying to keep Rankine's resignation a secret (check their website and see) and are anxious to postpone the evil hours when they get a new Chairman and then a new owner.

Just goes to show that weak Boards and lily-livered Directors aren't confined to Bayview.

Re: Board Stiff

According to the Celtic website, tickets are £15 and £7...

Re: Board Stiff

Dumbarton fans were also charged £15 and £7...

Re: Board Stiff

Would I mislead you? It gets better, actually. The actual position is that Celtic season ticket holders have vouchers that will reduce their ticket price to £9. And free buses to take them there.

So the only people paying £15 will be - yes, you've guessed it, Dumbarton supporters!!!

No wonder the numpties on the Dumbarton Board have gone into hiding and are in denial that the chairmanless club is in meltdown. Thank goodness we now have sensible people in charge at EF.

Re: Board Stiff

If this is true, why are tickets being advertised in the press by Celtic at £15 for season ticket holders? There is no mention of vouchers. And what about those fans who are not season ticket holders? Where are they going to get their vouchers? Did Santa know which chimneys were Celtic-minded, and left a voucher on the mantlepiece for them?

Then you say that season ticket holders are to get free buses too. To a home game????? Are they getting picked up individually from their houses?

I smell sh!te

Re: Board Stiff

What a load of shit

Re: Board Stiff

Just came across this thread. Watcher is obviously a Rankine man, because some of his info is spot on, a lot of it spurious, although not yet public knowledge.

Re: Board Stiff

18,600 at Celtic Park. Sounds like someone was posting a load of pish...

Re: Board Stiff

Is that not actually a really shit crowd for Celtic?

Re: Board Stiff

Predictably shit crowd...
