Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

associate directors

I keep getting asked questions. Obviously I cannot disclose confidential details but will try and give you answers via information already in the public domain.

"Following a board meeting on Saturday, the club has announced four new associate directors _ all previous directors at the club.
Former chairman Bruce Black has been appointed company secretary and Jim Stevenson as football secretary, while John Barclay will work on commercial matters.
Dave Marshall, who resigned as a director in protest against Mr Brown, will look after the stadium. All are set to become full directors in due course."

The above was published in the East Fife Mail some time ago. This would indicate that four new directors would be appointed to the board.

Why it did not happen at the AGM when it would have been logical to do so I cannot answer.

In due course means what it says ie when it is decided by the powers that be. It would seem that their confirmation as board members will not happen until the next AGM. Although there may be means for it to take place earlier; but I would think that would be rather cunbersome and if it was going to happen it would already have taken place.

Do I think their appointment would safeguard the club rather than keeping the power in the few hands it is now? You may think that but I could not possibly answer.

Re: associate directors

Would any of them be daft enough to join the gang of numpties (some with money, some with none) now in charge of the club? I'd be surprised. Being a Director carries legal responsibilities and in this day and age it isn't wise to be involved with a club that pays players partly in cash (nod, nod, wink, wink).
