Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

NO NEW FACES REFLECTED YET IN TRANSFER WINDOW
WHILE everything seems quiet on the transfer front, East Fife boss Dave Baikie insists nothing could be further from the truth.
WHILE everything seems quiet on the transfer front, East Fife boss Dave Baikie insists nothing could be further from the truth.
The transfer window has been open for over a week but there have been no comings or goings at the Methil club as yet.
But Baikie is confident the right players will be brought in before the transfer window ends.
He said: "We are working away. We have spoken to a number of players and we are certainly looking to strengthen.
"We have a few irons in the fire but I'm not sure if we'll sign anyone before Saturday.
"But it isn't for want of trying. We have inquired about a number of players, whether on loan or permanent.
"We don't need a lot of players but could do with a couple to provide some fresh impetus.
"We are still looking at the wide areas and up front but we need players who are available and can make a difference.
"We will not be letting any of the current players go until we have brought new ones in. We need a strong squad for the rest of the season."
Many fans are hoping East Fife will sign up Stevie Nicholas for his third stint at the club.
It appears the striker's time at Stranraer is coming to an end and Baikie isn't ruling anything out.
He said: "We need to strengthen the team. I know Stevie well but it's news to me that he's available. We certainly won't discount anything."
Meanwhile, East Fife face strugglers East Stirling at home on Saturday - a must win to keep East Fife's title tilt on track.
Neither side had a game at the weekend, with the Fifers visiting a fitness centre to keep in shape.
Baikie said: "We are looking forward to this game. We have drawn the last two and we need to convert more of the chances we are creating."
Berwick are now hot on the Fifers' heels and will overtake the Methil men at the top if they win their games in hand.
"This league was always going to be tight," admitted Baikie. "We have led the division for a long time. Hopefully after Saturday we'll still be on top."
Greig McDonald's long awaited return has taken a step closer after playing a couple of reserve and under-19 games.
Baikie said: "Greig is getting close to fitness and will be like a new signing."
But McDonald will be missing on Saturday alongside other injury victims Jason Dair, Sam Linton and Gary Kelly. Ryan Blackadder will serve the first of a two-game suspension following his sending off at Arbroath.

Re: East Fife Mail

"inquired..." ???

Shoddy. There should be an 'inquest' into the English in this article. I'll make some 'enquiries'.

Re: East Fife Mail

Are you Eugene in disGIuse?

Re: East Fife Mail

Of course he's not.
When I'm an arid pedant I get it right - inquire and enquire are equally acceptable.

Re: East Fife Mail

Really ??

shite

Re: East Fife Mail

enquire or inquire
This word can be spelled either way, although the tendency is to use enquire when asking for information, and inquire when conducting an investigation.

Shit, shit

I'm away for some humble pie.

Sorry EFM

Re: East Fife Mail

I think I may have asked this before but...... what is an arid pedant?

Re: East Fife Mail
