Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

stevie fortune

just heard that Stevie Fortune is goin on loan to the Glens. Hope Baikie isnae tryin to offload him as hes the best young player from this area for a while. He hasnae had much of a chance this season wi Baikie playin his signins.

Re: stevie fortune

DB said at the AGM that Stephan had missed games this season sometimes because of injury and sometimes because he (DB) felt that other players were just ahead of him to be picked on that particular week.

He had a chat with Stephan and they thought it would be best if he got out and got some games under his belt to build confidence, match fitness etc.

Didn't get the impression he wanted to offload him, more help him develop.

Re: stevie fortune

This is ridiculous. We get the first talented local youngster for years and year who represents Scotland out of EFFC, and we don't play him. Were Davie Kirkwood, Gordon Durie, Paul Hunter farmed out to the juniors? Of course not. They were all in the first team at 16, and at a far higher standard than the Third Dvision.

If promotion is the intention this season, the poor boy is going to have even less experience of senior football if we recall him in the summer and throw him into the Second Division.

Re: stevie fortune

Who picks the team?? not you!!!!!!!

Re: stevie fortune

More's the pity, on the basis of just about every result since we last played East Stirlingshire in October. Nine points out of 24, and terrible football

Re: stevie fortune

Excellent point, on you go you can pick it this week

Re: stevie fortune

Why is the current under-18 Scotland captain not good enough for us ? I don't understand.

It seems East Fife fans are unanimous in their estimation of the player (something that is very rare among us) and still he is farmed out to the Juniors ??!

If the Stenny and Arbroath games are anything to go by the way we play (the only two games I've seen this season) then it looks to be an odd decision to say the least as we are shite and sitting ducks at the top of the league soon to be overtaken...

Re: stevie fortune

Jules Verne - brilliant

Re: stevie fortune

Of course Stevie is good enough but he has the disadvantage of competing with Jablonski and Blackadder for a place in the midfield.

Re: stevie fortune

If so then why has Baikie played Crabbe, Courts and Doyle! before Fortune. Give the lad a run in the team before he goes somewhere else!!

Re: stevie fortune

Steve spent yesterday doing his own training as the Glens game was off. Could he been of use? or am I biased.

Re: stevie fortune

Without a doubt we could have done with him yesterday with Blackadder out.
