Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

ROSS BACK BLAIR HE BELONGS

From the Daily Record

By Kevin Mcgoldrick

CONVERTED frontman Ross Graham reckons he'll have no trouble killing off opposition attacks after his switch to the back of the park.

The striker-turned defender quit East Fife in the summer and returned to home-town club Blairgowrie.

But off the park Graham still works as a pest exterminator with the family firm. The 35-year-old, who also had spells with Brechin and Montrose at senior level before going back to New Bayview, said: "The business was started by my dad 13 years ago.

"He used to work for Rentokil and when he was setting up on his own I was leaving the Royal Navy so I decided to join him.

"The job basically means we go in and kill rats and mice and so on.It can also come in handy when you want to wind your team-mates up.

"The first time I was at East Fife I used to travel with Kenny Deuchar and Craig Farman along with a young goalkeeper who was the cocky type.

"One night the goalie was playing a reserve match and decided to take his car. We came up with a plan to steal his keys and it just so happened I had two dead rats in my van.

"We put them under his seat and in the boot of his car. The smell was horrific and he only found out where it was coming from because our other keeper, Jim Butter, told him what we had done." Graham insists he is as desperate for success at junior level as when he was playing senior.

He said: "A big part in my decision to come to Blairgowrie was that I am from the area. Work is booming so I decided my travelling days were over.

"I aways had intentions finishing up with them even though I spent a good few years in the senior ranks.

"After leaving East Fife in the summer I had opportunities to join Tayport or Carnoustie or to go to Kinnoull as assistant boss.

"But I'm not getting any younger and have said for a number of years that Blairgowrie would be my final stop.

"The business is continuing to grow so I need to be around the area more and more. From where we are based it's only a two-minute walk to train and play on a Saturday.

"I am also doing some coaching with the club.

"At the moment, the community has some great young players coming through and I hope to bring them to Blairgowrie.

"Due to the weather we have only managed to play eight league games but we believe we have a chance of winning the North Division although we know it will be hard and any defeat will kill our chances."
