Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

all quiet

After another, not unsurprising, home defeat the website seems unaturally subdued. Even the knockers seem dumbfounded and lost their power of articulation.

I am at a loss. It is easy to blame the manager and he is the obvious target, edven though he has taken us to the top of the league. Or could there be other avenues to blame? Does anyone know or has a reasoned guess. Maybe it is just a short term loss of form, run of bad luck which most teams go through.

Answers on a postcard please to ?

Re: all quiet

The same frontrunner syndrome struck two other teams in this division last season. First Berwick, then Stenny had big leads at the top before being overtaken by Cowden. So don't take it too personally.

As I said on another thread, not a great difference between the two teams today but Berwick played with more confidence - understandably - and were lucky with both goals. Maybe that will change.

Berwick were also more ruthless - ready to hack down a fife player getting into a forward position. the ref was a bit too lenient with their cynical approach

Re: all quiet

Agree with you smokie. We played pretty well in the first half, with Berwick looking ordinary compared to us and we were unlucky not to be ahead. The two goals Berwick got were really good fortune for them and in quick succession, knocked the stuffing out of us. We tried to get back in but didn't create the same as in the first half. Their first goal came after a definite handball that gave them an unfair advantage as the ball broke to one of their players. The ref was wrong there.

Berwick were cynical and this was shown clearly when at a free kick they had a player standing in front of Ross, well offside of course and definitely interfering with play by obstructing our goalie, but the ref incredibly let it go! The interpretation of the offside law is a lottery now.
