Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

In Hindsight

Absolutely gutted today. I actually remarked, when 3-0 up, "isn't it great that, for once, we can relax and look forward to the final whistle." How wrong I was!
However, looking back at today's match, I think we have to praise a very gutsy and impressive Montrose come-back. We can have no complaints whatsoever; Montrose were a good, CLEAN, footballing side, and their guts and determination won them a point. We witnessed one of the great come-backs of all time today, and I just can't fault the Montrose team at all. They played some really good passing football and, though it pains me to say it, probably deserved a point at the end of the day.
Shame about their four foul-mouthed numpty supporters on the terracing, though (and you all know who I mean!). A bit of good natured ribbing is OK, but foul behaviour like that (and I'm not just talking about the odd swear word) in the presence of kids is totally unacceptable. Anyone who heard them will know what I mean, and I hope the numpties in question read this!!!

Re: In Hindsight

Jim, sorry to say this, but we have our own foul-mouthed brigade unfortunately. At Arbroath I had to move away from the main EF support to behind the goals, so that my primary school kids and friends couldn't hear them!
Even at Bayview, all it takes is a poor pass and the swearing immediately starts.

Re: In Hindsight

Its the same every game, there's always a few who just take it too far. The question is do you speak to them and face a torrent of abuse or just put up with it, it's sad to say but most of us, myself included, just put up with it. The stewards at games are not interested in dealing with verbal aduse its only when it gets physical that they feel the need to do something, even then its usually after the event.

I would hope that the fans who partake in such activities would read threads such as this and would take a thought to themselves but sadly, probably, not as these thread dont come with pictures or balloon captions

Re: In Hindsight

Maybe a few reminder tannoys before and during matches, to ask fans to refrain from using bad language, might help?

Re: In Hindsight

It would be hard to watch players like Paul Hampshire, Jonathan Smart and Scott Crabbe and not swear.
