Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

New signing before Window closes?

Heard the club are still hopeful of signing another player before Wednesday.
Innes Ritchie perhaps?

Re: New signing before Window closes?

We should probably offload a couple too, we must have a pretty big wage bill.

Ritchie could form a good partnership at the back with Smart or McDonald.

Re: New signing before Window closes?

Gary Sutherland from St.Andrews Utd has been training with the club.

Re: New signing before Window closes?

dont think so tam

Re: New signing before Window closes?

In my eyes theres only one position for Greig McDonald in that team and that is centre midfield.

Re: New signing before Window closes?

Innes is ok guy but I think he is a bit old,

Re: New signing before Window closes?

Innes Richie was playing for Bathgate against Kelty Hearts last week.
Also a possibility one of our forwards might end up at Kelty.

Re: New signing before Window closes?

Sorry Uddingston Fifer. Got to disagree. I think Greig is better as a Central Defender. He wins the ball, is strong, good in the air and dangerous at set pieces. He is not as effective in midfield as his passing is not the strongest. He is too similar to Tam Courts in the middle of the park. Playing them both in the middle wouldn't give the creativity required. The only time it might work is if we were playing 3 at the back. The two of them could then provide cover by sitting just in front of the defence. It's all about opinions eh !!

Re: New signing before Window closes?

Agree with what your saying BayviewBoy but whenever Grieg has played midfield he always is a threat and he isnt scared to have a shot at goal unlike half our team.
Smart and Doyle proved earlier on in the season their solid together at the back so i think Greig would be better in midfield rather than defence and more effective.
All about opinions

Re: New signing before Window closes?

Tam You aint completely wrong Sutherland was supposed to be training with the squad but unfortunately for himself he picked up a knee injury while playing for st andrews so he hasnt bn to train with the squad yet but Baikie is keen to have a look at him although it isnt likely that a move would happen until the end of the season!

Re: New signing before Window closes?

Oh well,I can`t be right all of the time!

Re: New signing before Window closes?

Who,s going to Kelty Jeff?

Re: New signing before Window closes?

JJ - Don't want to name names. Not for fear of being wrong, (far from being uncommon) just that it's hearsay rather than hard fact.
I work beside a few people who've asked me how good this certain player was because apparently Kelty are interested in him. Whether this certain player wants away or whether he's been offered as surplus to requirements I don't know.
The squad is certainly big now with the new signings.

Re: New signing before Window closes?

I take it naebody joined or left oor merry band last night? Gutted about Dookur and the circumstances surrounding Gretna not allowing him to come to us. Perhaps they have forgotten that they too were 3rd Division "minnows", desparate to get themselves up the leagues, a couple of years ago. Shower of fannies. Hope Brookes takes up golf.

Re: New signing before Window closes?

They would be thinking that Northampton are a better shop window than us, not wrong there are they
