Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Next 2 weeks.

Looking at the fixture lists for the next 2 Saturdays, it will be make or break time. On paper, EFFC has 2 easier fixtures against the bottom 2 clubs so 6 points should be obtained. Like I say, on paper.

Let's hope that the other results favour us.

Re: Next 2 weeks.

Come on get real. The season is over, no chance to catch up now this situation has happened before hanging on in the vain hope of some magical events. Forget any prospect of promotion this season. AGAIN

Re: Next 2 weeks.

We would have no chance if the players and fans all took your attitude.
Thankfully they don't...

Re: Next 2 weeks.

"No chance of promotion"???
How no' like - in the play-offs as it stands, with every chance of being there or better come the end of the season.

Come the berwick game on the 17th, I think we'll be 5 points behind them - A win would take it to 2 and we're right back in the title challenge.

Re: Next 2 weeks.

I-10 i think you should get an I-test. We have won a single game in almost three months, and now you say we are going to win the league. By all means be positive but let's show a bit of restraint here.

Re: Next 2 weeks.

Who would be a football fan eh!

Optomisim is now BANNED from Bayview and this board!

What sad buggers post on this site under shitty names like "hold the horses" etc! Support the team, we can still win this league. There are a lot of games to go and a lot of points to play for!

Re: Next 2 weeks.

An I-test?? What is that? Is that an exam to see if you can work that new fangled thingy mi-jig that you play music through?

Re: Next 2 weeks.

This is just a theory but the guys/gals I've seen at games home and away over the years seem to be the ones who come on here showing some degree of optimism and positivity whereby the pessimists often seem to be the fairweather folk eg I'm not aware of them attending so many games or they have names like 'ex-fan' or their post contains phrases like 'Ah'll no' be back 'til '.

I don't know if this theory would stand scrutiny or not. If so, does it mean the regulars are less fickle or are we too willing to accept too little or just more used to dealing with the realities of supporting a lower division team???

So, what's my point?

1. Is the number of games attended over the last ...5/10/50/however many ... years directly proportional to the positivity of the supporter?

2. If so, why?

Re: Next 2 weeks.

I'll answer that one!!

1. A simple one - yes!

2. Because over the last few years (more if you are old like Stew!), we have been through and witnessed alot worse than what we are seeing just now. We have not been playing brilliantly this season but for most of it, we lead. We were either lucky or the rest of the league is poor. I feel that if it was this time last season, we would have taken the position we are in just now and been happy. I had expected that next season would be our best for some time after giving everyone time to work together, we were perhaps spoiled by what happened in the first part of the current one. Also, I am most definitley a 'glass half full' person!

Hope that helps KotS!

Re: Next 2 weeks.

We will get promotion.

Re: Next 2 weeks.

There is a big difference between optimism and slavering. I am very optimistic that East Fife can win two games on the bounce. After that, I hope we win a third. And a fourth.

For three months many of you have been saying "we'll win next week" and then been proved wrong week after week. Win the league? Well, put it this way - I wouldn't fancy your chances on Deal Or No Deal.

Re: Next 2 weeks.

14/1 for us to win the league at Ladbrokes if anyones feeling like we have the slightest chance

Re: Next 2 weeks.

Woooah there horse man. Have a read of my post again - where have I stated we'll win the league? All I've done is predict we'll win our next 2 games, and that Berwick will drop 5 points in their next three games - setting it up for a make-or-brake game for us on the 17th.
