Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Barca at Bayview??

Heard that Barcelona are playing at the old course this summer, as a pre-season bonding session. Any chance we could get them along to bayview for a pre-seaon friendly

Re: Barca at Bayview??

It was reported last week that Dunfermline and Dundee United, were lining up friendlies against them.

Re: Barca at Bayview??

DUNDEE UNITED chairman Eddie Thompson has confirmed the Tangerines are working hard on plans to bring Spanish giants Barcelona to Tannadice for a glamorous pre-season friendly on July 26.

However, the United owner admitted there is still some way to go before the fixture is firmed up, and how the Spaniards’ trip is to be financed is a major issue.

“Discussions have been going on for some time,” he revealed.

“An Irish promotions company, Platinum One, are organising a trip to St Andrews for Barcelona so that they can play the Old Course, and the promoters thought it would be a good idea if they also had a couple of games while they were here— for training purposes and to spread the cost of the trip.

“A group of 40-45 will be coming and includes all their top stars.

“The likelihood at the moment is that the first game, if it happens, would be against Dundee United and the second game would be against Hibernian within a matter of days.

“I have been given a date of July 26 as a possibility but we haven’t actually gone into the details as yet.

“We’ve now received the proposals from the promoters into how the finances would work.

“That’s a very important aspect, so I’m now going to look into that this week.”

If only archi-god was still with us....

Re: Barca at Bayview??

If they're staying in St Andrews then it would be fair to assume that they would train at the university playing fields, however, in the interests of security this is maybe not the best venue. With this in mind could East Fife not offer Barca Bayview as a secure traing venue.

Good publicity if nothing else

Re: Barca at Bayview??

I dont know if your joking but in the sunday mail it said that Ronaldinho was going on holiday to St Andrews
