Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Craig O'Reilly booking

From a referee who seemed reluctant to book anyone today it's ironic that a player gets booked for 'Over celebrating' I presume. It's an absolute nonsense and if it was for the shirt over the head I'm still not convinced it's correct. I know some people will say that goal celebrations can be a bit over the top but to get booked for a bit of exuberation is bad.

Re: Craig O'Reilly booking

The booking was a joke. East Fife should appeal it as
the letter of the law states that it is a bookable
offence for removing the shirt or over celebrating
resulting in a long delay in the game. The Ref today
should have taken off his sun goggles when he got
off his Sun bed

Re: Craig O'Reilly booking

Them's the rules I'm afraid. I quizzed a referee about this a few months ago. They've been told that shirt lifting is a bookable offense!

From the Official FIFA site

http://www.fifa.com/documents/fifa/laws/LOTG2006_e.pdf

Cautionable Offences
A player is cautioned and shown the yellow card if he commits any of
the following seven offences:
1. is guilty of unsporting behaviour
2. shows dissent by word or action
3. persistently infringes the Laws of the Game
4. delays the restart of play
5. fails to respect the required distance when play is restarted with a
corner kick, free kick or throw-in
6. enters or re-enters the fi eld of play without the referee’s permission
7. deliberately leaves the fi eld of play without the referee’s permission
A substitute or substituted player is cautioned and shown the yellow
card if he commits any of the following three offences:
1. is guilty of unsporting behaviour
2. shows dissent by word or action
3. delays the restart of play

Decision 6
A player who removes his jersey when celebrating a goal must be
cautioned for unsporting behaviour.

Referees are expected to act in a preventative mode and to exercise
common-sense in dealing with the celebration of a goal

Re: Craig O'Reilly booking

Shirt lifting is bookable. How often has Dale Winton been booked ?

Which in the case of Craig means he probably should not have been booked as he didn't remove his shirt
