Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Fifers back in promotion race

Fifers back in promotion race

EAST FIFE are back in the promotion race after their third win in a row.

A change in approach during training has helped the Fifers develop their fitness as well as a new mental toughness, according to manager Dave Baikie.

That toughness was in evidence during a hard fought game against East Stirling which belied the 2-0 scoreline.

“We had to battle all the way,” admitted Baikie.

“Conditions were very, very heavy and it wasn’t conducive to any kind of football but I think over the piece we deserved the win.”

The Methil men scored in the first minute through Paul Walker and then complacency seemed to set in.

“We thought it would be easy after that but East Stirling came more into it and we had to defend strongly against them,” said Baikie.

East Fife soon broke the home side down again and Craig O’Reilly sealed the points with a late strike.

“We’re playing well as a team now. When we started to drop points we changed our approach in training,” the manager added.

“At first I decided to play games on a Monday night to get them used to winning but that didn’t really work so I changed it to quite a strong fitness regime which seems to be helping.”

Re: Fifers back in promotion race

The pitch was pretty heavy on Saturday a bit like at Coatbridge 2 weeks before and we coped well on that. Let's hope it's 4 out of 4 on Saturday.
