Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Courier Report Dumbarton Game

Fifers win to keep play-off hopes alive
EAST FIFE 1 DUMBARTON 0
TEN-MAN East Fife took a massive step towards the play-offs after a 1-0 victory over promotion rivals Dumbarton.

But the visitors will feel aggrieved not to have snatched a point after they saw a late header chalked off for offside.

In a dire first half, Dumbarton had more of the play but neither side managed to create a clear-cut chance.

Paul Ritchie saw a drive whistle just past Stephen Grindlay’s right-hand post on 26 minutes before Tom Courts was booked on the half-hour mark.

The first half closed with weak efforts from Ritchie and Craig O’Reilly.

The game became more interesting 10 minutes after the restart when Courts fouled Ryan Borris, earning him a second booking and his marching orders.

Despite the Sons’ man advantage, the Fifers began to fashion the better chances with O’Reilly twice going close before a Ritchie drive on 70 minutes was kicked wide by Grindlay.

From the resulting corner East Fife grabbed the only goal of the game.

Dumbarton failed to clear and after a shot was blocked O’Reilly smashed the ball home from close range.

The visitors thought they had equalised deep into injury time, only for substitute Tommy Coyne’s header to be dramatically disallowed.
