Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Re: Sons

don't you love the sound of breaking glass...

Re: Sons

We can STILL win the league...

That's us 8 points ahead of Dumbarton with 4 games to go. They have a much easier run in than we do. We only need 2 more wins to secure the last play-off place so we have to make sure we pick up points at home starting against the jolly Weegies on Saturday.

We can't allow Dumbarton back into it!

Re: Sons

Our goal difference is 9 better than Dumbarton, so a win and a draw would probably be enough.

Re: Sons

Bit worried by that result as Dumbarton should take at least 9 points from their run in.

Let's hope we just do the business on Saturday, then that should help ease my jitters

Re: Sons

Had a feeling yday that Sons would win! Wouldn't do for us to be able to relax in the run in would it??

Re: Sons

A win for us on Saturday will go a long way to secure a play off place.Lose and Dumbarton win and it`s back in the melting pot.
Who do Dumbarton play on Saturday?

A wee bit worried that Baikie might keep it too defensive on Saturday and worry about QP too much. His comments in the EFM seem to me that he will play that way.
Let`s go for it and let QP worry about us!

Re: Sons

Time fort a Wraith fan to talk some sense again.

Is this post about winning the league or making the playoffs?

a) If it is about winning the league, then wise up. There is no chance of you doing that now. The most you can get is 70 points, so Berwick are just one win away.

b) If it is about whether you are in the playoffs? WISE UP. You bawbags are DEFO in the playoffs. Your double header v Dumbarton sadly ensured that. It's more about whether you can catch QP, than will Dumbarton catch you.

If I were a betting man, I'd say that it will be...

Brechin v Stirling & Roth Raivers v Ross County

East Fife v Arbroath & Queens Park v Stranraer

... playing the first leg of the semis.

Re: Sons

Not so sure about the play offs Jonathon.

Dumbarton have Montrose and QP at home and Albion and E.Stirling away. They have a good chance of taking 12 points from these fixtures, leaving them with 62 points.
We have QP and Albion at home and Stenny and Arbroath away.2 wins out of these would secure it,but if we lose on Saturday and Dumbarton win,it then gets interesting.

Re: Sons

Have only seen F*fe once this season and they were top notch, so I get the feeling that they are a confidence team. Good when it's high and bad when it's low. They have been winning recently and get the feeling that they are going to make the playoffs comfortably, starting with a win on Sat.

Must say that one of my best every old Bayview memories was you guys getting put out of the cup by QP years ago after the ref made you retake a penalty you scored cos their keeper moved early. You missed the retake and they went on to win it. AMAZING.

Re: Sons

Funny you should mention that game, Jonath*n, because I've mentioned it in an article for the programme this Saturday.
The reason for the retake was never made clear. You say it was because the QP 'keeper moved early, but I seem to remember the rumour at the time was that the ball wasn't sitting centrally on the penalty spot!
I wonder if Brian McGinlay remembers which reason he chose that evening in order to ensure safe passage to the next round for the Glasgow club?

Re: Sons

Got a few pals that are F*fe fans, so used to manage a few games every season, especially midweek ones.

(was at the replay at Tannadice when Wilson scored an absolute ripper! Duncan Ferguson's debut?)

Anyway, my memory of it was the F*fe scoring and then there was mini pitch invasion, only for it to be retaken.

I always thought that the big joke at the time was the fact that it was the QP goalie that had infringed (not on his line?)yet they got the decision? That was our chat on the way home and for weeks after?

Re: Sons

C'mon guys, let's not get panicky just cos Dumbarton have won a game. Considering where we were at the end of February, I think we would have settled for being 8 points in front of them with four games to play. Yes we still need to win 2 games to be sure, but that assumes Dumbarton will win all of theirs (which they won't).

Re: Sons

Should be fine for the playoffs... no need to panic.

Re: Sons

Almost told you so!!!!

Raivers to play Stirling.

It's gonna be ace in the 1st next season!!!!!

yaaaassssss...

Re: Sons

It probably will be, pity you won't be there to see it.
