Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

Having selected the goalie, it's now time to bolster the defence in front of him.

And we're going to start with the selection of right back.

REMEMBER, IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A PLAYER YOU'VE SEEN WHO GETS YOUR VOTE(S), IT'S WHO, FROM YOUR KNOWLEDGE, YOU FEEL DESERVES IT MOST.

There are two teams. Pre 1970's and post 1970. You can vote for ONE player for each team.

It's up to you which team you wish the player to qualify for. It may be that they made their debut in the 60's, so you vote for them in the pre 1970's team. They might have played more of their games in the 70's though, so you might vote them in the post 1970's team.

Your choice, but I personally prefer the latter option of what decade they played most of their games for the Club in.

You cannot vote for a player for both teams.

So who will fill the right back positions?

Pre 1970's might be Willie Laird, Bobby Stirrat, Tommy Fitzpatrick or someone else. Post 1970 could see Dave Clarke, Tom Connor or maybe you have strong opinions about an other.

Let us know now and you have till midnight on Saturday 12th May to get your votes in

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

I'll kick things off with my votes.

Pre 1970's team: Willie Laird

Post 1970 team: Dave Clarke

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

A really difficult one. But Willie Laird shades it ahead of Bob Stirrat and Tommy Fitzpatrick for the auld yins.
Davie Clarke's 600 odd appearances for the Black and Gold secures the post 1970 jersey for me by some margin...

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

Laird And Clarke

May be wrong but could we be seeing a trend forming for the pre 70's team???

e.g.s.s.4.l.b.

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

I know Davie Clarke played in many different positions for the Fife but my main recollection is of him at right back. He gets my vote.

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

Davie get's my vote, need to ask advice for pre 70's.

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

Although Clarke was a superb servant to the the club, my vote goes to Tam Connor who left a legacy in the time he was with us.

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

Don emery and clarkie

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

Kenny Munro?!

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

When it is all finished, will someone get in touch with the winners and/or their families to let them know? Would be a nice touch and good PR for the club as well. Club could have a day where the winners/families get invited along, nice pics and a story in the EFM, that sort of thing...

Just a suggestion.

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

My vote is Laird and Clarke.

My Dad votes for Don Emerey and Clarke.

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

HB - all in hand, plans are afoot as they say!

Pre 70 - Doug Souter
Post 70 - Bobby Duncan

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

Pre 70's Don Emery
Post 70's Bobby Duncan

We've had this debate before, but Clarkie was at his best as a sweeper/centre back IMO so I'll vote for him then.

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

My head is full of wee motors as my Granny used to say...
If enough post 70's legends were willing to do it, could the club not arrange a 'legends v U9 future stars' game, hold it on a Sunday, and only charge say 3 quid to get in? All money goes to CHAS or equivelent...

Aplogies for hijacking the vote, and double apologies if it has been discussed elsewhere. I'll shut up now...

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

Laird and Clarke.

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

Bobby Stirrat by a mile

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

Just thought I'd bump this us as there's only two days to go

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

Stirrat and Clarke

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

Willie Laird and Davie Clarke. Trues East Fife heroes.

Emery was a great character but he was a journeyman pro who was only at the club for a couple of seasons.

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

Davie Clarke, a great player and the best manager in my time watching East Fife

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

Dave Clarke. Far too young to remember anyone else!

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

Stirrat and Clarke

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

Laird and Clarke, canny mind of laird but ma auld man says he was good, and i have very fond memories of Davie Clarke, good manager as well

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

Davie Clark.

Re: All Time East Fife XI - Right Back

Perhaps not surprisingly Davie Clarke has waltzed into the post 1970's team in the right back slot.

In the pre 70's team, Willie Laird has secured the position, with Don Emery and Bobby Stirrat not too far behind.

Cheers to all who voted and don't forget this week's left back vote
