Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

View From The Bay #1

As part of the Summer site revamp, we hope to introduce a regular news round-up taking a light-hearted look at matters concerning our great team and Scottish football in general (but mostly our great team). As a forerunner to this, we have asked AFTN correspondent ‘The Undisputed’ to take a weekly-ish irreverent, maybe even controversial, view on things down Bayview way and beyond. Here’s the first in this series, ‘View From The Bay’.

View From The Bay #1

For the third time this week Stenhousemuir have signed a player from Brechin City. It’s a novel approach to building a team – let someone else do it. Then each close-season, sign the whole team. Last year they signed Berwick, this season they’re signing Brechin. Perhaps they’re just going through the SFL alphabetically? Clyde players – you have a year to dig out your maps to Larbert.

***

East Fife meantime have made four signings. In line with European Union legislation on helping poorer communities we have as usual complied with the statutory ‘one from Raith and one from Cowden’ ruling thus allowing us to also make two proper signings in Steven Tweed and Paul Stewart.

***

Kevin Fotheringham has confirmed in the press that his wages will almost double when he moves from socially-deprived Kirkcaldy to New Bayview. Analysts say this is the result of scrap metal reaching record highs in the commodities market combined with an ageing population in the Falkirk area.

***

David Longmuir has been appointed Chief Executive of the SFL. David was an Airdrie supporter so, on first thought, ought to be sympathetic to the threat of extinction hanging over teams. Given the psychological theory of how the abused becomes the abuser however, perhaps we can all expect the league to be defunct in two year’s time.

East Fife season tickets will be on sale soon, and will offer up the usual big savings to any supporter not buying one Interested fans should contact the Club, hand over their money and select their seat. Seats D3 and D4 are not available as they’ve already been taken by Jason Dair and Scott Crabbe.

Thats very funny, Gof looking forward to more

Will Crabbe not need seat D5 as well???

Re: View From The Bay #1

I have to give The Undisputed all the plaudits for this.

All his material for this first one

Re: View From The Bay #1

Superb!
This sort of satirical humour is what is needed in the game today. Very popular in the Victorian era, by the way!

Re: View From The Bay #1

Have you first hand experience of the victorian era Jim? Maybe you should write a wee piece!

Re: View From The Bay #1

Well with the return of songs like Boys on the Social we thought we'd go all old school.

Reading a lot of Dickens for inspiration.

We need more players with Z's in their name.

Re: View From The Bay #1

Funny, I'm sure I've heard people say my sister likes a good Dickens. Sounded like that, anyway.

There'll be more 'View From The Bay' in a couple of days.
