I didn't see this programme but my family told me about it and I've had a look at it today.

This UK Channel 5 programme highlights the 'Top 100' favourite TV detectives with only Benedict Cumberbatch's currently very popular Sherlock beating our man. We will see if Benedict's efforts stand the test of time!

As MW says, Sherlock has the advantage of being in production - Columbo did superbly given that it is an archive show.
