Hi all!

In the episode "Swan Song," just after Columbo speaks to Mr Pangborne about a home made parachute, we see Columbo and Cash discussing the arrangement of the two different versions of "I Saw the Light" and how Cash knew he was going to need to change it a week before Maryann died. Columbo then asks to use the phone and Cash picks up his guitar and plays a beautiful acoustic piece while he's on it. There are no lyrics. Does anyone know what he is playing?

If you have Netflix, it starts about an hour and twenty minutes into the episode (Timestamp: 1:21:40).

I've been absolutely dying to know since I was a kid. I've tried using the Shazaam app and nothing comes up.

Cash isn't actually playing it. It was an overdub. Johnny was never that skilled as a guitar player. If you doubt that, review the clip and watch his fingers. I'm fairly sure it was just a riff performed by the studio musician who wrote it, which may explain why you can't find any information on it.

Aah, that would make sense. I'll just have to live with the 40 second YouTube clip of it. =P
