Unfortunately I don't know IDENTITY CRISIS well enough to really quote from it, and I know the whole LATER series very badly.

When it comes to BY DAWN'S EARLY LIGHT, there's the line about his rose garden.

And the triumphant line "The elusive cider has materialized!"

Identity Crisis when Columbo shows him the police sketch again only this time with him looking older and with a beard and he goes "ahhh Steinmetz"


I'm just watching it again now and I noticed a goof. I don't know as this has been spotted before. I went to the goofs page and didn't see it. There are links at the bottom of the page for pages 2 and 3 but the links are dead.

In the scene where Columbo first approaches Brenner at the conference they walk over to a table. Brenner picks up a small notepad from a briefcase sitting on the table. The shot changes to a close up only now he's holding a few sheets of paper instead.

"What . . o'clock do you have?"

"That decomposing old relic in the parking lot is yours?"

"I must have mislaid a day. Anyway . . . be seeing you."

"You have the wrong . . room." clap-clap-clap-clap

"I told the old boy to get lost and did he ever."

"More unsubstantiated . . (slowly) pop-py-cock?"

I love that actor!!

I spotted that several years ago and reported it to the spoofs section. They logged it back then. I like finding spoofs =)

"I suppose you could call 'that' a uniform" (a stretch for the Colonel to compliment Columbo's police attire)

In Identity Crisis "I must have mis-laid a day somewhere" was always a favorite of mine.

Do you like the name Fred? No? Well then perhaps you prefer the name Archibald...

Columbo: "Do you know a Lawrence Melville?"

Nelson Brenner: "No, I don't. And this time I'm not lying to you."


By the way, the other comments are all great selections.
