That sounds good, Frog. Elaine and I are leaving Virginia Beach this Saturday for a road trip to St. Johns. I haven't made that long drive for quite some time. No timetable for the return trip. I retired in December, so we'll probably head home in late August. I'd certainly come up next summer for any reunion. It would be fun to catch up with folks from my two tours (64-66, 72-76).
Say John... Is there anything planned for the Arg area to commerate the 70th anniversary of the Atlantic Charter later this year?
I'm going to start next year to get a campaign going to get a postage stamp for the 75th in 2016. It takes several years to make it happen. It would be great to get a joint issue with the US, UK and Canada.
Russ -- There are plans for the 70th this summer but as always, we (the legion) are the last to know. There will be a ceremony in Ship Harbour and also something is planned for St. John's during the same period.. I have heard the road from Ship Harbour to the site has been graded, grounds have been worked on and made presentable and the Consulate General from Halifax is also due to attend. Will be talking to the CO of the Canadian Forces Base here on Friday so should have more next week. Frog
One of the first things I heard on Newf Radio OCT 1970...
Something like>>>
"I tried to take her by her lily white hand
but she said I didn't fit into her plan
'cause you've been working on a coal boat bye
and your notting but a dirty old man'"
