Social Security

Thanks to those who posted about applying for SS at age 62....I reached that milestone a couple of months ago, and got my first payment deposited in my account this week!

And to think, when I was in the Navy they were saying that SS would be bankrupt by the time I retired! Now I just have to hope it (and me) lasts long enough for me to break even

Re: Social Security

I started receiving mine at 62 also. My wife, turned 62 this past Septemeber, is drawing off of mine as she did not earn enough time to obtain it during her working years. This has enabled me to retire (with my Navy retirement money also) and I certainly am glad I decided to get it early instead of waiting til I turned 65. Of course, there are pros and cons on this.
