Passing of Master Chief Max Morris

IUSS has lost another original icon. Passed on Oct 25th at home with his wife Joyce. As many know Joyce is not in good health so if anyone wants to contact his family call son Mike 253-973-9509 or sister Diane 858-245-2671. We are losing many of the original shipmates.

Re: Passing of Master Chief Max Morris

Master Chief Morris was one of the first STGs I met upon arrival in Key West. A nice guy who was easy to talk to. I never had occasion to serve with hime elsewhere (I think) but he clearly made a positive first impression on me.

Fair Winds Master Chief. And God speed! The watch has been assumed on the decks of which you leave!
We'll meet again soon.

Re: Passing of Master Chief Max Morris

I was lucky enough to serve with Max at the OSSD and found him to be very professional but also willing to go out of his way to help me learn as a junior officer. I concur with Rick Matthews' comments and offer my sincere condolences to his family.

Re: Passing of Master Chief Max Morris

Thank you Ed for making our IUSS community aware of Max's recent passing. I would like to offer my deepest condolences to his family and friends. I was briefly stationed with Max at CVB while I was TAD there in 1966, prior to getting PCS orders to BDA. I was fortunate to be promoted to ST1 while there and found Max to be very helpful while studying for our exam. Never stationed with him after that but we crossed paths several times in the ensuing years. One time, I fondly remember, was when he, Dan Solberg and I all attended Fred Schwanz's retirement in Virginia Beach. Those were the days when we were in our prime of life and shared many of the same friendships and memories of days gone by. I pray God's comfort for his family in the days ahead. Fair winds and following seas, my friend.

Re: Passing of Master Chief Max Morris

I never had the honor of serving with Max but certainly knew of the name and legend. It is always sad to see another of our great system transfer to their final duty station. My sincere condolences to his family. RIP shipmate, we have the watch.

Re: Passing of Master Chief Max Morris

Didn't serve with the Master Chief but met him at one of the 5 year reunions. He was fun to talk with which led me to believe he would have been a good one with which to serve. Like all of the good ones, his reputation was golden.
Our most sincere condolences to the Morris Family.

John and Pat Ellis
