Re: Old Friends

Glen,

The age is about right and the location is generally where I would have expected him tp be.
Was there any other info such as phone, address etc?

Thanks for your effort.

John

Re: Old Friends

Well! I entered his name and up popped this info. James J. Yosco. Phone 401-364-5016. Address 12 Lima Dr, Westerly, R.I. 02891. This appeared on the site ClustrMaps.

Re: Old Friends

Amazing and perhaps frightening to realize what anyone can find out about an individual without having access to the data base at an organization located at Ft. Meade, Md.

Re: Old Friends

As expected, finding Robert Stewart without having some preliminary info like city and or state would be far more difficult as there must be thousands of folks with that name. Even then…

Re: Old Friends

As an example of how daunting a task one would encounter, there are at least 139 people in Texas over the age of 30 named Robert Stewart. That state was chosen randomly. How many in New York or California?

Re: Old Friends

Hi John,
Were you able to contact Mr. Yosco? Hopefully the one I tracked is the correct party. Again, it would be virtually impossible to locate Robert Stewart with such scant details.

Re: Old Friends

John
As soon as I read your post - a key word (OLD) jumped right off the page at me. Hmmm... I thought to myself, "I resemble that remark!"

As to your inquiry, the name Yosko rings a bell, but I was never stationed with him and don't have any info as to his whereabouts.

However, speaking of old friends, thanks for George Widenor's email address. George and I go way back to at least 1961 and crossed paths/visited over the years. Sort of drifted apart in the last few, but after sending him an email, got a nice reply and he is doing o.k. Like the rest of us, older and a bit slower - doubtful any of us could pound the mats again. Maybe a gram rolling contest?

Anyway, just chiming in to let people know I am doing quite well for 86-1/2 (the 1/2 is important), much like when we were 16-1/2 (going on 20)!

Wishing all my old shipmates and acquaintances the best. Hang in there follow geezers!

Re: Old Friends

Heart warming to see a few old friends chime in. I realize that there are occasions where we just don't have anything to say that hasn't been said before so I want to make the point that its not what is said, its more of that reassurance that there are a few of us still out there.

In talking with George back a few month ago, he jokingly said "you know John, we've told these sea stories many time and have embellished them to the point they are bordering on being lies"

Well, the facts are I don't care. I could listen to or reads them over and over again because it more about knowing you're still out there.

So, I appreciate the response to this note. I'm gonna keep chiming in every now and then and I would sincerely appreciate all would do likewise.

And Glen, thanks for the work. I'll phone Jim this afternoon.

and Dee, OTA1 Jim Yosco was with us in Bermuda in the 74-77 timeframe. Good guy. Had a motor boat with an Oldsmobile 440 engine. The thing would fly. Thank goodness the Bda Sound was free of hidden objects.

and if anyone else is reading this, STG/OT Robert Stewart was with me on Ramey in the 68-71 timeframe.
I'm pretty sure he got out after 4 so its not surprising that we can't come up with a lead.
Disappointing as he was a really good man and I hate not being in contact with old and good friends and Robert was a good one.

Anyway, we got a string going and it was good to hear from all. Let's try to keep it up.

Re: Old Friends

Hi John,
Were you able to contact James Yosco?

Re: Old Friends

Holy smokes, there’s an actual message chain going on! We’re on a little vacation and I haven’t checked the site for a while. Nice to see folks are alive and kickin’! Hopefully we can perpetuate this activity, I’ve missed it.

Re: Old Friends

Hi Randy,
It didn’t take a great deal of effort to possibly track down one of the two individuals that John Ellis was interested in locating. I am interested in finding out if the James Yosco in Rhode Island is the former OT. Not that I ever knew him.
It was easier to track him down than finding that Hotel class sub last known to be somewhere between Adak and Tierra del Fuego!

Re: Old Friends

Glenn,

No answer at the number but it did have a voice recorder. I didn't leave a msg. Will try again today and will leave a msg if I don't get a response.

Tx again for ur assist.
John

Re: Old Friends

Hi John,
Thanks for the reply. Not sure to what extent you want to pursue the search, but here are a couple more numbers that appear to be associated with Mr. Yosco. 401-377-6001 and 401-377-2202.If these turn out to be a dead end, I came across a couple of email addresses that he has. I will send them only if you think they will be of assistance...

Re: Old Friends

Glenn,

Yes, I would like the e-mail addresses. Pls send the to me at "patriellis@gmail.com"

I tried the original number again today and again, no answer. I did leave a msg today in hopes of it being a good number.

Thanks for the additional numbers. I'll try them in just a bit. I'll let you know if there are any results.

Again, thanks for the assist.

John

Re: Old Friends

Glenn,

The 401-377-6001 number was a commercial nr that did not respond and the 401-377-2202 nr did not answer or have an answering machine.

John

Re: Old Friends

Glenn, Thanks for the try but all numbers were a bust.

Re: Old Friends

Hey John! Dont have any info on the fellows your looking for but wanted to chime in and say I havent gone to the dark side (FB)! Hope ur well.

Re: Old Friends

Jim Yosko, aka Yoda, is in Westerly, RI. I have an email address of his that I wrote to him about 2-3 years ago. I reached out and if I get a hold of him, I'll try to post info here for you all. He was my mentor and a great friend. Cheers all!
